Key framing an overlay track

Post by nitroman84 »

This may be a strange question, but I was wanting to know if it is possible to have an overlay track that is key framed to move along with the main video. For example I was just working with a video that had violent random movements as part of it's scene and I wanted my overlay track to follow these movements as closely as possible. The only solution I have found is to move the scene frame by frame and split the overlay track to move it back in sync with the main video. This does produce satisfactory results but it is much more time consuming than a key frame approach would be. Am I missing a feature in video studio X3 or is this not an option?

Thanks.

While I don't fully understand what you are trying to achieve, no, you can't keyframe the overlay track.

Thanks for the help, I guess to better help your understanding of my particular situation I was working on a video clip of Star Trek the original series where the ship was under attack and the video was moving across the screen very randomly. The clip panned to the heads up display they were looking at and I decided to replace what was on the screen with an overlay track. Syncing the two up was a trick but by splitting the overlay track every time it moved out of sync with the main video clip and re aligning it I was able to get roughly the result I was looking for. I was just curious if I could key frame the overlay track to get the same result quicker but I guess that is not an option.

Thanks again,
Ryan
