Vado HD editing in Pro X3 - doesn't work

Post by Roy Oetting »

Hi,
X3 does not recognize the AVI file created by Creative Vado HD cameras. With some difficulty I can get a clip into editing but i can't attach it to other clips. I've tried publishing a 300 MB video without any further editing and I get a "Not sufficient memory" error. I have 6 GB of RAM and over 400 GB on the hard drive.
If I can't resolve this problem I've just wasted a bunch of money and several hours of my time.
On my PC which does not work (bad mother board) I could edit Canon, Vado together in Movie Maker and that is what I need to be able to do. My laptop with Windows Home Premium 7 does not have Movie Maker.
Any help would be reallyy appreciated.

Right click on one of the clips and post its properties here.

Not sure what you mean by "attach it to other clips".

Hi Black Lab,
Attaching to other clips is a novice way of saying adding them to the story board. I can not make them into a project.
Properties:
File format - Microsoft AVI files
Frame rate - 30.000 f/s
Duration - 142.7 seconds
Data rate - 4281 frames

Video compression - Micros oft DTV-DVD video decoder
Attributes - 24 bit 1280 x 720, 4281 frames

Audio compression - Microsoft ADPCM
Attributes - 44,100 KHz, 4 bit mono
Total samples: 6293549

This is the info that I found under properties. I didn't have any problems in Movie Maker.
I appreciate your help,
Roy

Hi Roy
Windows 7 does not come shipped with a version of Movie Maker but you can download the latest version for free from here:

About an hour ago I found the free download and just finished a short video which I'll put on You Tube in the near future (Eugensdiet my channel).
Thanks Mitchell. The video I made isn't as nice as I would like it to be but I need get some videos posted. Hopefully I'll get Pro X3 working properly so I can do a better job. I spent at least 6 frustrating hours trying to get it to work in Pro X3. No go.
Movie Maker Live is different than the Movie Maker I had used but despite the learning curve I created a video with clips from both Cannon and Vado cameras in about 45 minutes.
Thanks for your help.
Roy
