DVD MovieFactory 7
I have a project ready. It consists entirely of three DVD-compatible MPEG-2 clips.
One simple one-page menu, choosing between the three titles. No chapter menu.
4:3 aspect ratio
As simple as a project can be
I keep getting a "Failed to Burn" message. Repeatedly, at least ten times now.I have rebooted, stopped services and background processes, etc., but nothing will get it to work. I tried changing the motion menus to non-motion menus. Nothing at all would work.
The thing is--it could not be a physical problem with "burning", because I am not really "burning" to an optical disc. I am trying to save the project as an .iso file, that I can burn with Nero or Imgburn. But it would not save.
I also tried "burning" to DVD folders, instead of the .iso. Same problem---"Failed to Burn".
What is going on???
Cannot burn ISO or DVD files
Re: Cannot burn ISO or DVD files
I always suspect the video file...
Where did your MEPG-2 files come from? How do you know they are DVD compatible? ...I'm not saying that they are not DVD-compatible... I've sometimes had trouble with files imported (ripped) from a DVD.
Can you try a different video file from a different source? If a different file works, you can try-out your MPEG-2 files one at a time to see if one or more is causing the problem.
Every time I've had a "real problem" (crashing, freezing, etc.), it's had something to do with a particular file.

Re: Cannot burn ISO or DVD files
DVDDoug--
The MPEG-2 files were made by Ulead VS, I forget which version, as they are a few years old.
In fact, i had burned them to DVD before years ago, without problem, but now could not find the authored DVD from before, so tried to create a new one.
They are definitely DVD-compliant.
And, since I repeatedly had that problem today with DVDMF7, I reinstalled DVDMF6, created a project with those exact same files, and the ISO was created with DVDMF6 just fine, without a hitch.
So, it seems to me like the problem was in v7, not in my files.

Re: Cannot burn ISO or DVD files
Unfortunately if the files are a few years old then it is possible they could now be corrupt.
Your computer routinely re-arranges things on your hard drive - especially if/when you defragment your hard drive.
Previously good files can and do sometimes get corrupted.
It is for this reason that everyone should have a regular back up plan where important computer files - such as bank account records, your music and photo albums should be backed up somewhere else. This can be to another physical hard drive on your computer (not a partition) or to another computer on your network, and/or to external storage such as a USB drive.
Best of course is to keep back up copies in a different building - no one wants their place to catch fire or suffer a earthquake, bolt of lightening or being hit by a meteorite but alas disasters happen.
