I'm using H.264 video codec, AAC audio compression. every ting was working fine. I have installed the service packs......

How about cutting out a short clip, say 30 secs of one of your files and putting it on a server so that we can download it and try to create a video file from it? If you agree let us know if you want help in uploading to a server. Can't think of anything else to suggest at this stage.

Not sure whats going on, John.
I've experimented and have it working in bits.
Some files I need to cut down to 15second blocks so they will render with out crashing. Others I can add 10 or more together at several minutes long and it works no worries
I have X2 installed on an old computer at work and it renders the files no worries (just hell slow)

If some files work and others don't it does suggest a problem with the source files. I know they worked OK before but they could have got corrupted since.
I can't find in this thread where you have said where the source files come from and how you import them to the PC? Do you use a USB direct from the camera? What software do you use to import them? I see you say you use "H.264 video codec, AAC audio compression." Does this mean that is the format of the originals or that is your output setting?
Still think if you let us have one of the files that fails we could try to replicate the issue but will fully understand if you prefer not to

Yeah the files are taken direct from the cam, usb to the computer. As I said I tried them on my old computer which is running VS pro X2 and they worked fine

But we still don't know what software you use to transfer the files from the camcorder. Do you just drag and drop? Did your camcorder come with software as it is usually recommended that the manufaturers supplied software is best for transferring files from the source to the PC? What are the properties of the cource files? What do you want to produce at the end, a DVD to play on a TV? A video file to play on the PC or what?flynny wrote:Yeah the files are taken direct from the cam, usb to the computer. Re: Uninstalling from windows 7
Just re-read you previous posts again and see that you had VS x2 on your old machine. Well there is no reason why you can't have both X3 and X2 on the same machine. You will probably find that X2 goes faster on you new Win 7 machine and at least it would prove whether the source files have become corrupted. Indeed using x2 on the new machine may solve all your problems!
One point to watch is if you have opened a VSP file that was created in x2 in X3 then you will need to open it again in x3 and resave it in x3 but choose Video Studio 12 format as shown in the attched screenshot. Otherwise the file won't be recognised in x2. Hope that all makes sense. All VS progs are backward compatible but like all Windows programs they are not forward compatible.
