Videostudio 11-lost the installation cd, now need to install
Hi, I've had "Videostudio 11.0.0157.0 plus" (it says this in the program info area), I installed it from a CD that I bought, and the serial# is still listed online in Corel's registered programs list for me. My drive became corrupt so I lost this program but now it's good so I want to reinstall it, but I've lost my installation CD. I've tried downloading a trial of Videostudio 11, but after I download it and try to register it by entering my serial #, it says "the activation code is incorrect" and doesn't register the product. I can't contact Corel because the program is too old and they only support the previous couple of versions, but I don't need the newest version and don't want to upgrade.
How do I get an "activation code" for this program? (I already have the serial#, but that won't work). What is an activation code? Corel won't help me cause the program is too old, but is there any other place where I can get an activation code?

Welcome to the forums,
There is a difference between activation codes and Serial numbers. The TBYB (trial) versions use an activation code, to activate it to a full version. The versions like yours, that are purchased just require a serial number. They do not interchange, ie; you can't use an activation code in place of a serial number request, and vice-versa. Some later versions require entering both.
I'm sorry to say that since you lost your CD then your options are real limited...Purchase an upgrade, or take the risk of buying the same full version off Ebay. Either way requires purchasing another. Corel can't be responsible for keeping track of everyone's things, that's our responsibility. If you lost your laptop, baseball glove, or shoes, do you go back to the store where you purchased them, and expect them to provide a replacement? Even though computer programs are difficult to think of in the same way, they in fact are the same.

Re: Videostudio 11-lost the installation cd, now need to ins
Thanks for the replys, I ended up buying it off ebay for $20 with free shipping. I don't agree with the program is like a laptop or baseball glove, those are irreplacable unless physically built again, videostudio is just a series of 1's and 0's, and could be stored on a computer and easily be replaced for nothing and is downloaded every day. I agree the programmers put time and money into it, but it's not like I didn't actually buy it, corel even has a record of it on their website with my serial # on there, they just won't do anything about replacing it for me.
It kinda reminds me about drm protected music they sell. I bought a few songs online and everytime I made a minor change to my system, the songs wouldn't play anymore and I had to redownload them again. I got tired of this and I ended up re-recording the songs to regular mp3 cause I got tired of the bs I had to go through everytime I did something to my system. Now I only buy my mp3's from Amazon.com or sites that don't copy protect their music. I even wonder if I went back to the original sites, if they'd let me redownload my drm songs, or if they forgot about me after a few years like corel did.

Doesn't matter. It's a product that you purchased and, subsequently, lost. If it was a current product Corel might have replaced it if it was a registered product. However, the product in question is about 4 years old and is not supported any longer.I don't agree with the program is like a laptop or baseball glove, those are irreplacable unless physically built again, videostudio is just a series of 1's and 0's, and could be stored on a computer and easily be replaced for nothing and is downloaded every day.

Re: Videostudio 11-lost the installation cd, now need to ins
Yeah that's good information, I figured I was screwed, that's why I just bought another copy. Oh the memories, it reminds me of about 10 or so years ago, I used to make a backup copy of all my software and also had a spreadsheet of all my serial #'s. That's good advice to do, over the years I got tired of taking the time to burn another cd (even though these days they're not expensive, and much much faster) and even type the serial# into my database. It was fun at first, but after over 100 various programs, it gets old.
I should use this experience as a sign to start doing that again. Oh what the heck, it's only $20 for a new program, so I don't think I'll do all this stuff, I'll just pay the $20, and continue to be mad at corel!

Re: Videostudio 11-lost the installation cd, now need to ins
About "unsupported" software....I had a complete computer crash last month. Three times in one week. One was just a recover, the other two were complete reformats. Long story.
Unfortunately, I'd used up all of my allowable activations on PSP 10 (I've got all versions from six up through V X3, V 10 is my go to editing program) and after an hour in Corel support chat, where I was told the same thing as you (you're SOL, product not supported), and advised to upgrade (Dude, I've got the upgrade, I don't like it, I want my V.10 to work, I love it most! Please, please, please help me!) I was given a phone number to speak to a real live Corel CSR. And he got me up and running again in less than five minutes. The hold time was longer than it took him to fix it up.
I don't know if it's cool to post the phone number here, otherwise I'd share it. But I wrote it down and have it in a very, very safe place. *laughing*

The number he gave me was 1-800-772-6735, which had a voice message. From that number I got 510-200-0438.sjj1805 wrote:Not a problem, you can post the phone number.lisaviolet wrote:..............I don't know if it's cool to post the phone number here, otherwise I'd share it.
