ok so I just got the new video studio express and it's great but I need a little help from all you pros out there.
I have sports videos of entire games where I want to just make little 10-15 second clips from. I thought I was doing it correctly but it won't let me make the movie in express. Is there a tutorial or can someone tell me how to make short little video clips from a much larger one. I know how to trim the video, but it says it's just a vsx file and not an actual video clip when I try to put it into my movie, it won't allow them in there. I know you can do this in advance edit but it is quite lengthy, and I thought I could do some of this in express edit. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Video Studio express help
I've never used Express Edit. I have always used Advanced Edit and I make sports videos all the time. When I video tape I "tape to edit". In other words, I do not let the tape roll from the beginning of the game until the end. I am always stopping and starting on every play. Then when I capture the video I make sure Split by Scene is turned on, and only capture the plays (scenes) that I want. Those short little clips make up my project.
You don't say if you have capture the entire event in one shot. I will assume you have. With your clip on the timeline simply use the scissors to cut your clip to create those short little clips. Keep the ones you want, delete the ones you don't. Don't worry about deleting the "real" clip. It still resides on your HD. The clips in your library and on your timeline are virtual. You can't mess them up.

In my opinion there is nothing quick and easy about video editing.I know you can do this in advance edit but it is quite lengthy,

Re: Video Studio express help
ok cool thx for the help I really appreciate it. I use a dvd camera and I start and stop it all the time, but the camera finalizes the video before I can use it and makes it to one big movie.
I am just learning this thing, but I also want to be able to add some zoom effects and freeze frame stuff. I guess you just use the snapshot tool? I wanted to be able to put in text and use an arrow for some things or highlight a small area (i.e my son in the video). Makes for some real good highlights.
Any advance tips you might have would be greatly appreciated. Especially when it comes to this sports stuff
