I have the Video Studio 10 SE version. I assume this is a stripped down version of VS 10 Plus or Pro?
When I "Move" a video from my Sony DCR-SR100 video camera the video and audio both play perfectly in Windows Media Player and a couple of other players I have installed.
However, when I import the video file into VS 10 SE there is no audio. The Audio view shows a flat line.
I see there is a Service Pack 1 for VS 10 or VS Pro and the TBYB version but when I try to install the Service Pack 1 to my version of VS 10 SE I get an error message which says a valid copy or version of VS 10 can not be found.
Does anyone know how I can get the update needed for VS 10 SE that will allow it to decode the audio in a clip shot with a Sony DCR-SR100 video camera?
I am running the VS 10 SE on a Dell M6400 machine here at work so I am a bit handicapped by our IT policies. In other words I can not do an install and have to get our IT technician to do the install but since VS 10 SE is not a core business application the IT folks are not willing to spend much time or effort to help me try and get it all working. Just added that so everyone would understand that I need some pretty specific advice as to what to try so i can get the IT guy over and not tie up his time.
Thanks for any suggestions and or help,
Keith

Re: Is there a Service Pack for VS10 SE ?
In short, there are no updates or patches for SE versions.
I would suspect that the audio produced by your camera is Dolby. SE versions usually don't support Dolby because of licensing issues.
Can your cam record in some format other than Dolby?
Maybe someone will have an idea of how you can convert the audio before you bring it into VS....

Hi
Right click video clip in timeline/library and select properties.
What are they?
If digital dolby………………..
There is a filter that can be used to allow you to hear digital dolby, you will not be able to en-code your video to digital dolby..
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ac3filter/
I do not know if re-coding your video to another audio format (mpeg Audio) will be successful. But worth a try .

Re: Is there a Service Pack for VS10 SE ?
The properties for one of the video clips from the Sony DCR - SR100;
Audio:
Audio Type: Dolby Digital Audio
Total Samples: 86,774,775 Samples
Attributes: 48000 Hz
Layer: None
Bit rate: 448 kbps
So, I will check to see if there is an option to record the audio in some other format in the video camera;
Then I'll check into the filer Trevor mentioned.
Thanks guys for your help.
