Custom Video for Menu page.

Post by AussieTX »

Ok I did a little searching and messing round but haven't found a way to do this yet but maybe someone has.
Movie Factory 7 SE looks identical to the Share options from X2 and 11 and has what I see as the same limitation (at least I haven't worked it out yet).
I want to play a unique video for the menu page but all I seem to be able to do is get so many seconds from the beginning of my actual video project.
I tried putting in my "Custom Menu video" first in the time line and checked "Use first clip as Introductory video" but it still used the first 20 seconds of my main video for the menu after it played the introductory clip.
I know I can select a custom background video for the menu but that's not what I am after. I like the backgrounds that come with the themes in the gallery.
Is there any way to add video that is JUST for the menu page/display?

Cheers

Not as far as I am aware... though you can set the menu video to start from anywhere inside it, not just from the start.

You are going to the Edit tab, then changing the option for Background image/video?

Once you have the video clip selected for your menu, you set the duration and the start position as depicted in the following screen-shot..

I don't think that is what he is after. As he said,
I know I can select a custom background video for the menu but that's not what I am after.

I think you are correct Ken. What I can't figure out is what he does want.

Doesn't want a video as his menu background.
Doesn't want a play before the menu video.
I know I can select a custom background video for the menu but that's not what I am after. I like the backgrounds that come with the themes in the gallery.
Is there any way to add video that is JUST for the menu page/display?

Sorry it is hard to explain. I need to search on how to drop in some screen shots.
I am not trying to change the background to another image or video. I like the backgrounds as they are supplied with the gallery themes.
What I'd like to control is the video clip that the app places on the Menu page. Not the background but the actual video it places on the page on top of the back ground. Does that make sence?
E.g. Take the first template in the gallery called "07_OneSD1_W" it has that box in the RH top corner where it places the video from the project while the menu is playing. That's the area I am referring to.
All I seem to be able to do is uncheck "Motion Menu" or adjust how many seconds of the video will play (1~30 seconds).
It always takes the video from the first project in the time line.
The first 10 to 30 seconds of my project is not appropriate for this menu video. It has some silly credits and other stuff that I don't want the viewer to see untill they actually press play and start watching the show.

I'm going to keep messing with it. I have some ideas I might try.
I appreciate your inputs.
Cheers

You're using SmartScene menus, which are somewhat different then the thumbnail menus.

Try this...change the Thumbnail display for the video clip (Title). When you first insert your video to the timeline, have it selected/highlighted. Next move the playhead (scrub) to a point more desirable. Then right-click on the Title (clip) and select Change thumbnail. Now it will play from that point..;)

Ron

Thanks that is very helpful. This will be great so I can move what is displayed to something a little more interesting.
Excellent. I will definitely be using that. Thanks again.

Another idea I had was to place my "menu video" in the time line first before the main project.
Then on the actual menu display remove the selection link to the first Video and rename the selection link to the second video (the actual project) to "Play".

Thanks a bunch.
