Files being duplicated everytime I capture

Post by sprocketsrocket »

Hello All,
I have a Vixia HF20 camera with a built in harddrive. When I capture my files into Video Studio it is duplicating everything that I have caputured before. I have not wanted to delete my cameras memory until I'm confident I have the files in a safe format. When capturing, I am not seeing a "exclude duplicates" type option. I haven't found an answer in the User Guide for VideoStudio x3 or my camera so I was hoping somebody much smarter than me might be willing to help.
Thanks

Hi
Welcome to the forum

Have you tried copying the files from the camera to your PC’s hard drive.
Then use Video Studio to insert to the timeline.
Right click timeline and select Insert Video

Maybe I should rephraze my question and ask what program I should be using to download and organize my video files?

Hi
Download or Capture are the operative words.

If you have video stored on a hard drive or maybe a memory stick then it acts as a removable drive when connected to your pc.
In which case you can view and copy its contents to your pc using copy and paste.

If your video is stored on a video tape, then you have to play the tape in real time to capture the video.

You indicate that your camera has a hard drive, as such you should be able to copy its content to your pc. The camera should come with some software allowing you to do this.

But again when you connect the cameras hard drive to your pc you should see the drive when viewing ‘My Computer’ allowing you to manually copy and paste its content.

Hi,

Sometimes the best answer is the simplest. I have tried many media organizing softwares over the years and to date I have found nothing which compares in ease of use and reliability to the free program..............Windows live photo gallery!

It came resident with Vista but must be downloaded and installed with all other windows operating systems including windows 7. Don't ask me why they didn't include it there.

It's really a functional and flexible program in it's simplicity. Try it you'll like it.
