Can PSP X3 create DVD Menus

Post by froggy_doddy21 »

I want to create custom DVD menu templates to use in video studio. I know that you can use PhotoImpact X3 to create custom menus and import them to VS. HOWEVER, PI seems to be left behind by Corel altogether (discontinued?).

Can I use Paint Shop Pro to create DVD menus (templates) and import them into VS, just like PI lets you do? If not, are there any other options?

You can't save to the format that VS uses for its menus, no. As for other options I don't know. I'm not familiar with VS but I've seen this topic a number of times.

VS, DVDMF both use the proprietary PI format of UFO for the DVD menus. Corel has been asked about including support for UFO files in PSPP, however so far we've received no indication if this will happen...

What Is a DVD menu? In Pinnacle Studio I can edit a menu and bring in my own Background, Tiff Png jpeg Gif AVi, and there are a chose of Thumbnail Frames arrives etc to add I expect I could make my own frame/holder But there are too many to start with. In fact there is a Pictures selector that automatically opens the My pictures

Steve's tutorial on Creating DVD Menus.... will clarify what DVD menus are, how to create them from scratch, and that PI is the only program that can be used to do so.

So Video Studio can not edit a Menu? surly not. And surely a new menu looks the same as an existing menu but with different Background and text plus font also with new buttons or the same Ones. On that bases all you need to do in PSP is create a new background

Trev,
You either didn't read much of the article, or you're not fully understanding. There's more to DVD menus than just background images and text. They need to be constructed and named in a very specific manner, the naming can not be deviated from or else they will fail in the DVD authoring program. The only file format that the DVD authoring program, or the old "burn module" accepts is UFO.

Sure in VS you can change the background images, use video for the menu background, or change the text, font, color. However the foundation that all those changes are made to, is a UFO file.
