drag a flash object infron of the clip
add text on the flash object
select transitions and add disolve between flash animation and video file
select share tab, and select Create Video File

Why are you selecting mpeg-4 then mpeg-4 HD? Why not go directly for AVCHD (which is of course high def mpeg4)?

A Better question would be why does it crash when using an option that Corel gives us. If Corel gives us 50 options to do the same thing, none of the 50 should cause the app to crash.
That said, I will try using the AVCHD menu and see if it fares any better latter in the day.

It all depends what you are after, which in this case I suspected was AVCHD. I suspect -- though confess I am not 100% sure -- that the mp4 option in VS uses one codec which comes as part of Windows, while the AVCHD option uses a separate H.264 HD codec installed by VS...

Using the AVCHD template crashes as well, it crashes at 15% instaed of 2%. I have contacted Corel about this as well.

From which camera brand (codec version) does your footage come from? Did you uncheck smart render?

Canon HG10 which uses AVCHD
Never checked/unchecked smart render. I'll give that a shot and report back.

I have the same model camcorder, also my system is very close to yours cshudson. I always use the AVCHD choice in the "Share" "Create a video file". I then choose 1440 x 1080.
I have just done test with those settings with a video clip from my camcorder (M2TS file) Put a flash clip of the spinning world in the front of the clip, inserted the crossfade transition and put a title to run across the flash clip. Put two random transitions in the video clip faded the end to black and put an end Title in. The went to share as above. Rendered complete no problems.
One question I would ask; How do you transfer your clips from the camcorder to the PC? What file extension do the files on your PC have? May sound an irrelevant question but there is a reason for asking!

The only difference I see is that I was choosing the 1920X1080 to render so x3 would have to resample, or whatever it is it does to fill the pixels. the files were imported using VSx3 I believe and are AVCHD fils with the ".MTS" extention. Do you have smart render enabled or disabled?

I think you found it. When I choose to export in the same resolution as the original, 1440 x 1080, it exports fine. When I ask it to upsample to 1920x1080 in either the AVCHD or Mpeg-4 menus, it crashes. Can you confirm this on your system?
Any idea why that would be?
