I get stuttering video when I capture with VS9.0 from my camera.
This doesn't have anything to do with burning or rendering. The source DV videos on my hard disk themselves are stuttering after capture. The strange thing is, it only happens when capturing from the last ~30 sec or so of a given tape. Everything else from that tape is fine. And it only happens in VS9.0 program. I've tried in Roxio and Nero capture programs and it doesn't happen there (though those programs don't have auto-split features).
My camera is a Sony Handicam, DCR-HC28. Thank you.

Re: Video stutter when capturing
How are you capturing (what connections) and to what format?

You're right, I should have mentioned that.
I'm capturing via Firewire connection.
The format is DV (type1) and they end up stored on my drive as AVI files.

Re: Video stutter when capturing
As you can capture most of the tape and use anorther app to do all of the tape ok, we can rule out your connection.
It could be that the other apps are interfering with VS, I've found nero is terrible for this, so you could try uninstalling VS and re-installing it and see if that helps.
What happens if you capture half the tape and tehn capture the second half, does the end of each half both cause problems or just the very end of the tape, or does this work?
Are you using mains or battery power, use mains.

Re: Video stutter when capturing
I haven't explicitly tried to capture half and half. What I have done is try to recapture that one problematic scene on each tape. i.e. the last ~5min or so. It will still happen then (again, unless I use another capture program to get around. used Roxio for this recently.)
Plugged in via main power.
I haven't tried reinstalling or anything....when you say interfering, do you mean via running at the same time or merely existing on my machine together?

Re: Video stutter when capturing
Do you split-by-scene while capturing? VS can do this, as can a small freeware program called WinDV (windv.mourek.cz) which a number of us here use...

Re: Video stutter when capturing
the order in which programmes are installed can cause problems, so by interfering then yes I mean just by being installed.
Though if you ahve tried capturing the final 5 mins and it still causes problems, then I think it is an issue between VS and the way this 5 mins is recorded on the tape.
This could be a stop and start in the timecode, a lot of very small videos, which VS is trying to spit and has trouble with, the quality of the tape is poor at the end, cheaper tapes more so, and this may have caused problems with the data and is causing vs trouble.
