I am not an expert on this subject but I would like to point out a couple of items.
1. It is my understanding that the Blu-ray and AVCHD specification supports 1280 x 720. You can find the official spec here - http://www.hughsnews.ca/faqs/authoritat ... isc-bd-faq
2. There is not difference in compression between Blu-ray and AVCHD. The compression quality is the same, byte for byte. AVCHD is a standard that is used when dealing with DVD-5/9s as your output, while “Blu-ray” was for Blu-ray disks. In all honesty, AVCHD is just a substandard of Blu-ray, with an outlook towards smaller media (it has a limit on a few things, like audio tracks and subtitles, etc).
Both use the same compressor, however, so the quality will be the same. However, remember that you can only use AVCHD for DVD-5/9s and Blu-ray for Blu-ray disks. Some set-top boxes may be confused if your try and put a Blu-ray structure on a DVD-5 disk for example.
2. VS X3 has menu options for Video File Creation for both Blu-ray and AVCHD but does NOT include 1280 x 720 option.
3. To create an h.264 1280 x 720 file today, you must follow the directions that I posted here: http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=38106
This process for creating a 1280 x 720 file is NOT obvious and most users will not be able to figure out how to do it.
Question:
Does Corel plan to correct the 1280 x 720 limitation in the "Create Video File" menu in SP2 or must we wait for VS X4?
Just for reference I recently purchased a Hauppauge HD-PVR that I am using the .M2ts video output in VS X3. This format is what caused me to look into the 1280 x 720 format issues in VS X3.

I am going to bump this thread in search of an answer to the same question. Right now I am thinking I may need to switch over to Adobe or Final Cut for anything video related...

Please stop double posting and bumping threads that are a year old. If you have an issue start a new thread and give us details. We don't even know what version of VS you are using.
