Text tool causes program failue in X3

Post by popwop »

Once upon a time I was able to use the Text Tool in he Full Editor of PSP X3.
Recently this ability disappeared. When I click on the tool I get the "white screen" and Windows 7 Ultimate kills the program.
A search of the forum and Knowledge Base didn't give me a solution - at least that I found.
Is there a fix for this I have missed? Has a bug been rectified?

I had goon a long time without a problem until a few weeks back after try to fix a text problem for another user. They are usually caused by a bad font but as I had not added any new ones I was sure IT was not that So Tried the Reset trick of holding down th Shift key when clicking the x3 Icon to start Psp . Then re loaded my custom workspace and all is well again

Thanks.
I had tried that and it didn't work.
I tried it a second time and got the proper dialog box asking if I wanted to reset defaults or something to that effect. Replied yes and continued on to the Full Editor. Tried to aplly text to a photo and it seems to have worked.

I guess persistence may be the answer.
Not that enamored with the X3 program. Unfortunately I now seem to be unable to launch the X2 version on another computer with XP Pro running. Not sure the Shift + Icon double click works with XP. Will try it though.

Thank you for the help.

If that doesn't work, the text tool apparently still crashes if the background color is turned off before you grab the text tool. They haven't worked out all of the bugs yet. Interesting part is, if the stroke/foreground color is turned off it works fine. After it's already been used the background/fill color can be turned off and it'll work fine.
