what is this patch

I am reinstalling Videostudio on my new PC - i did not have a Pc for the last three months and hence was not active on this forum. I had saved a file named VSProX3_patch.exe (signed by corel) having a size of 6.88MB (7055 KB). Can anyone tell me what this is (i cannot recall) and whether it is still needed after my reinstall despite the fact that a service pack is not available.

Have tried search for updates, patches on this forum?

There are a few patches available for X# and would depend on what stage you are at of re-installing and how long you have had X3 installed.

A good start would be the sticky at the top of this forum 'Videostudio Pro X3 Patches and Update Links' !!!!!!

Would be helpful to update your User Profile as well, using the USER CONTROL PANEL ?

The other day i wrote to support an din response they told me to download all available patches and updates from Microsoft and Corel and that should solve my problem.

They also sent me links to FOUR the patches/updates available for VS X3 and there was the patch i have asked about earlier in this post.

I am wondering why this patch does not exist (is not listed) in the list of updates and patches for VS X3 . The other three were the VideoStudio Pro X3 Patch 2, VideoStudio SmartSound Patch and VideoStudio Pro X3 MLE Patch:.

How come? Users do not have accesss to that patch (the one on the link mentioned above) What is this patch and what does it do???

No that cannot be right Ron - the page you linked me to was the service pack 1 info page

The service pack consists of three downloads 1) the application update, the SS patch and the MLE patch whose download sizes are 37MB, 202 MB and 52 MB respectively.

The patch i refer to is but 6.88 MB AND I WAS GIVEN THIS LINK FROM COREL (in addition to the three other) in a recent reply from them (but no explanation on what the patch does or does not do)

I see what patch you're talking about. I found it in C:\ProgramData\Corel\Downloads\540228697_517034\1264794113309. On a Vista machine, the various downloads, patches, updates are stored in the C:\ProgramData\Corel\Downloads folder. However I too don't know what this patch fixes, or does. I also opened the included XML file to see if it provided any clues, which it does not.
