Purchased VSX3 and having problems

Post by jecklehead »

Hello all,

I purchased Video Studio Pro X3 and got a new computer so I installed it on my new machine. I am trying to create custom WMV profiles and it gives me an error "Access is denied 0x80070005" The window that pops up with the error says Windows Media Encoder.

I haven't done any troubleshooting at all but when I went back to my other computer it works just fine, can create profiles no problem.

One thing I did notice when I downloaded it to my new computer is there weren't any updates like on my old computer.. Dunno if that matters or not?

Thanks

Quick update.

My new computer has Win 7 pro 64bit and my old computer has Vista 64bit.
I cant edit or create any WMV profiles what so ever...
I did a full reinstall and no change.

I am at a standstill until I can create custom profiles. The entire reason I bought the new computer was to be able to edit 24mbps MTS files with ease, and that has been great.

Please help :(

In VS x3, If you go to Share > Create Video File > Custom > from the save as drop down menu choose WMF the click options then Profile then Customize you can choose a format then click Edit That will open all the settings options. You can then save your profile.

I can't edit or create profiles..

If I try to create a new one I get a error window that says "Windows Media Encoder (Access is denied)" After I click OK on that window another one pops up and says "Windows Media Encoder (An error has occurred. If the error continues, consider reloading the session file, starting a new session, or restarting the encoder."

If I try to copy a profile and save it I get a window that says "Profile Manager (Profile could not be saved, restart encoder and try again"

Anyone else?

My new machine had UAC turned on in the administrator profile... damn you microsoft! lol

Well if anyone in the future gets blocked from creating or editing WMV profiles go turn off UAC!!!!!

Hi jecklehead
I truly was looking at a MS thread on this and suddenly realised that it as Windows 7 problem and that turning off the UAC would probably allow access. I am a member of the Windows 7 forum and this sort of problem comes up all the time. I should have thought of it straight away but on this Forum one tends to think Program first and OS second. Still you succeeded which is all that matters.
