I was just wondering if anyone figured out wht the VS8 Powerpak AC3 plugin has to be uninstalled and reinstalled each time you want to use it?
I never got an answer from Ulead tech support.

Has anyone ever figured out the VS8 AC3 Plugin problem?

Here's something for you on that.
I recently noticed that this plugin can be accessed at two points: When creating an .MPEG file, and later during authoring by clicking on a little gear or file in the lower left-hand corner. In both of these places, the AC3 option has been seen--by me. However, I could not make it reappear in the first place after I'd rendered my file but then had to go back and change something. Then, it would not show up.
However, I've found it ALWAYS there for selecting during the authoring process, if you look for a "Customize" option. In fact, once I changed my mind after burning a DVD and deleting all my files: Captured the video file back off the DVD, went back and re-authored using the AC3 plugin this time, and burned a new "Dolby" DVD.

Thanks for the reply kebrinton.
The problem I described seems to have been resolved. I'm not sure which was the solution so I'll list both things I tried before the problem corrected itself. Keep in mind this was pure accident as I wasn't trying to fix the Dolby issue.
1: I tried maddrummer's method and THoff's .uvs.ini edit to get access to advanced rendering features in VS8.
see original post @ http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=3726
2: I found an AC3 "blue application icon" in my c:\windows\programs\ulead... folder. I double clicked on this icon, my cpu whirled for a few moments and then the select program to open dialog box came up. I canceled at this point.
I started VS, went to Share, clicked on the cog wheel then custom, them the compression tab and the AC3 selection was available. I closed VS and shut down my PC. Booted back up and the AC3 selection was still there.
