Hi All,
Fairly new to Moviemaker, and ive been having a lot of difficulty with its general performance. ive been given a bunch of existing project files (and related movie/audio files) to compile and play around with, and im barely able to open most of them. everytime i open one it will generally just hang after going through the 100% loading project progress bar and not bring up the editing screen. ive manged to get around that in most cases by opening a new project first and opening the files from within moviemaker. any time ive managed to get into one of the project and made any changes, hangs after i exit the editing room and so im unable to save the work. the individual video files arent that large (max of about 70mb) and the projects themselves arent overly complex (largest lasts about 35mins total).
not sure what to do, this is the only program ive ever had issues with on my computer, so i suspect there must be some sort of setting/codec/etc issue thats bogging it down. the main thing that springs to mind is that the projects were created under windows XP SP3 on a core duo system, im running windows 7 ultimate on a quad i7 system. ive installed both the service packs to give it the windows 7 compatibility, no improvement. when prompted i relinked to all the various files it asked for, and have managed to save that much into the projects.
basically no idea what to try next, my computer should be more than up to the task of running this and im not sure why its so painfully slow, to the point on non-functional. any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Re: DVD Moviemaker 7 Pro Editing Woes
That may be your problem, try uninstalling/removing it and see if things improve. Codec packs contain codecs that not only will conflict with each other within the pack itself, but also codecs that you already have installed on your system.Codecs: K-lite Codec Pack 64bit v2.4
Also Corel does not have a product called DVD Moviemaker, you are referring to DVD MovieFactory aren't you?

Re: DVD Moviemaker 7 Pro Editing Woes
uninstalling the codec pack certainly made it a bit more responsive, but im having the same issues with the program hanging after i make any changes in the editing room and when trying to load the project initially. i can get around the project loading issue by starting a new project and loading from within moviefactory rather than opening the project file from windows, but thats about it. the klite pack was the only codec pack ive installed, so there must be some other underlying issue as well. any thoughts?
