Hello,
I do a lot of video recording from my Canon Camera. It saves the video in this format:
Video: MJPG 640x480 30.00fps 15097Kbps [Video 0]
Audio: PCM 11024Hz mono 88Kbps [Audio 1]
And I always used Avidemux 2.5 to convert it to MPEG-4 AVC (x264). I like this codec and it makes it nice and small/good quality to upload to Facebook for my family to see the baby. But in VideoStudio Pro X3 I don't see this codec there. Is it under something else or how do I install it for this program? I tried the MP4 codec for YouTube but I don't like the quality. It has too many artifacts.
Thanks,
Jonathan

I tried downloading this codec but the problem is during motion from the special effects. It looks interlaced with lines in it. Is there a way I can fix that? I didn't have that problem with the MP4 YouTube codec but then it looked blocky overall.

Does you camera record in Lower Field First or Upper Field First? You must be outputting the same, or you may get the problem which you describe. It looks interlaced with lines in it.

Jonathan,
Check our my post to see how to use h.264 codec in VS X3 for different formats: http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=38106

Re: MPEG-4 AVC (x264) Codec in VideoStudio Pro X3?
Thanks for the tip Black Lab, that got me in the right direction. I changed it to Frame-Based and it worked great!
joepic, I tried that configuration but it did not work good. The video looked very poor. I like to use an AVI container and the X.264 codec. Under the settings you used it let you select .264 but I couldn't select which codec. I would like to create a custom filter but it will not work right. I can only get it to work if I set it myself every time. It is very strange. The settings are the same but it will not work if I save it as a profile. The video file would end up being 4 times as big and not play right. So I just hit custom every time and enter the settings.

Re: MPEG-4 AVC (x264) Codec in VideoStudio Pro X3?
I'm doing the same thing with my Sony Alpha DSLR and it's not working. Unfortunately when I was uploading the tainted files to my computer a lot of my personal information was compromised. I lost a number of Microsoft Office files including Outlook e-mails, Excel spreadsheets, and a few publications I was working on in Word and Publisher. I never imagined that digital files from an external camera would force me to run disaster recovery software, but it had to be done, and I am becoming a bit frustrated with some of the bugs in Video Studio.jonathan75 wrote:Thanks for the tip Black Lab, that got me in the right direction. What is your Sony's recording format? The OP in this topic, has a MJPEG, that uses Frame Based. Post the Properties of your video clip. You can right-click on a clip in the Library or timeline, select Properties. Are you also using VS X3?
