PIX3 not opening no matter what

Post by Alemond1 »

How frustrating!

My Photoimpact X3 has suddenly decided to stop opening. When I attempt to open it, it goes through the appearance of loading...but before the actual workspce opens (and it's still the smaller "loading" screen viewed on the desktop) I suddenely get the error message "Photoimapct had encountered a problem and needs to shut down...".

Then, when I click to get the details, I get:

AppName:iedit_.EXE
ModVer:6.2.4131.0 Offset 0005c2bd
AppVer:13.0.0.0
ModName:mfc42.dll

Now, I have tried a system restore with no luck. I have also tried advice from an earlier post:

control panel -> appearance and themes -> performance and maintenance -> system -> advanced -> performance -> data execution prevention -> turn ON DEP for all programs except for those I select -> ( I add photoimpact) and click "apply"

...with no luck.

The only change I made that I can think of was adding fonts to my system, using the control panel, which I now use with Paint Shop Pro Photo x2; which I also have had installed on my system for awhile now. Please do not advise me to delete these fonts as they work fine with PSPx2 but I'd rather use them in PI12 since PSPx2 doesn't make it easy as PI12 does to make warped text.

THANK YOU FOR ANY SUGGESTIONS!

Searching my WinXP machine, I find 3 copies of the mfc42.dll file. Two are for my printer, and the third for MSN80 (on-line service). You might try reinstalling your printer drivers to see it that might fix it.
