PSP X3 - presets refuse to draw in color

Post by jegs1 »

Since I upgraded to PSP X3, when I try to draw as a vector with a preset shape, like an arrow, PSP will only draw and fill in black. Changing the brush colors on the palette has no effect. I seem to recall having the same problem with a previous upgrade but cannot recall what the cure was.

Make sure the "Retain Style" checkbox is not checked on the tool options bar.

"Reatin Style" tells PSP to ignore the materials palette and use the values the preset shape was created with. When "Retain Style" is unchecked PSP uses the materials palette to find the stroke and fill colors.

That was it! I just KNEW it was something easy. Now the question is... why is this information not in the Help files anywhere?? Surely I am not the first one to run into this... repeatedly.
