Hi
I used to watch the standard definition (PAL system) home videos I had made with VideoStudio Pro x2 (Share/Create Video File/DVD) directly with my TV using a DLNA server at home
and it worked perfectly. Recently I purchased an AVCHD camera (Canon Legria HF200) and started making HD videos.
If I create a "DVD file" the sound works fine. But when I make a high definition file (Share/Create Video File/BluRay or AVCHD)
and try to watch it with my TV from the DLNA server, picture is ok, but the sound is completely missing.
I have used VideoStudio audio settings Dolby Digital and LPCM, both with the same result. Other settings at default value.
The same HD files have sound, when playing on the PC with VLC Player.
My TV (Samsung LE55A966) is compliant with the formats presented in the attchment.
Can somebody tell me are the VideoStudio HD output files supposed to be compliant with (some of) these, and if yes, what might be wrong with the settings?

What exactly is your DLNA device? I for instance use a Play Station 3 which works just fine, though of course I have to adjust it to ensure it outputs audio to match the connection to my (Samsung also) HDTV i.e. via HDMI setting if that is what I am using, or (in my case) by optical fibre cable to my home theatre system...
And what software server do you use? I prefer the special freeware server made specifically for the PS3 and called obviously enough the PS3 Media Server. But I also use Nero Media Home and Windows Media Player which are a bit more fiddly to set up...

Re: VideoStudio Pro x2 HD output file sound compatibility
Thanks for your reply Ken. My DLNA server is inbuilt to my Buffalo LinkStation network drive. My TV accesses it directly.
However, I don't think the DLNA server is the key. My TV also reads video files directly from a USB memory stick with exactly the same symptoms as with the DLA server. I think there must be a compatibility issue between the HD files created by VideoStudio and my TV.

Re: VideoStudio Pro x2 HD output file sound compatibility
I doubt that. Dolby is Dolby regardless of the program that made it. Dolby licenses the codec. Similarly, LPCM is bog standard audio of the most basic kind, again regardless of the program that made it.
Have you looked at your HDTV audio menu. Mine, for instance, could be set for SPDIF and would be looking for it, and would play no audio if it could not find it on the source. But I can also tick boxes for PCM and Dolby...

Re: VideoStudio Pro x2 HD output file sound compatibility
Hi Ken,
my TV doesn't have the option of changing the decoder setting for either video or audio, while playing back files. It is suppposed to detect the needed codecs automatically.
However, I found a solution (finally). While making the video file with VS, instead of using the offered templates such as Share/Create Video File/AVCHD or BluRay, I select Custom.
Then I choose Options and set the frame size to 1920 x 1080 and Media Type to MPEG-2 and Video Data Rate (variable) to a high value. I leave the audio settings as they are.
With these settings settings my TV can play both video and audio.
