I'm having a troubling problem with Quicktime input, as captured from the camera JVC GY-HM100U. The sequence of progressive frames are altered when I take a single clip in, then simply Share, CreateVideoFile, select BluRay NTSC - MPEG2 1920x1080.
The resulting file has every 3rd frame dropped, replaced with a duplicate of the preceding frame.
(I view frames with tmpgenc, stepping frame by frame to compare source material with output file).
So 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 becomes 1, 2, 2, 4, 5, 5. This is highly undesirable.
In the VS Edit screen, Project view, clicking the Next arrow, also shows the 1, 2, 2, 4, 5, 5 sequencing. The very same .mov source file viewed in tmpgenc will show all the frames, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
Input Properties reported by VS: File format: QuickTime Movie Files
Movie size: 1920x1080
Track counts: 1 video, 1 sound,
Compression: XDCAM EX 1080p30 (35Mb/s VBR)
Attributes: 24 bits, 1920x1080
Frame rate: 29.970 frames/sec
The Codec I have installed for XDCAM EX is by Calibrated Software, Calibrated Q XD Decode, v1.6.0.0
Pulling up the Project Properties info, I see the Edit file format: MPEGfiles, and the info box says
NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps). What does that mean? It sounds ominous!
I'm using Corel VideoStudio Pro X3, 13.6.2.21
What can I do here to get back all the frames?
Thanks, Rich
