Re: How to remove PSPPX3 manually
Thanks for the new link to the cleanup tool, JStanley. I couldn't get to the tool prior to this so I just purged my drives and registry of anything I could find which referenced PSP and then ran the CCleaner registry tool. But now that I have CDS_2010-Clean-Up_ver1.9 I'm tempted to run it anyway to clean up anything I might have missed, but I already have X4 installed.
So my question is: What are the consequences of running the X3 cleanup tool if X4 is already installed? Anyone know?

Re: How to remove PSPPX3 manually
Hi,
I have been having a problem reinstalling PaintShop-Photo-Pro-X3, after it corrupted during a update. No matter what fix method I tried to totally remove the application, so that I could re-install it, the installer always went to a screen asking ‘Are you sure you want to completely remove Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3’, and ‘Clear all personal settings in Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3’.
Anyway, I finally managed to solve the problem in the following way.
1) Follow the knowledge base here: http://corel.force.com/index/articles/e ... oto-Pro-X3. I also ran the ‘CDS_2010-Clean-Up_ver1.9.exe’ but this had no real effect for me, so I think you can skip the clean-up exe.
2) Turn off virus software (sure this is the reason it corrupted during the update anyway).
3) Start the installer again
4) When it reached the point that it is asking if you want to completely remove PSP X3 (instead of install it), leave the installer open and …
5) Browed to the location: C:\Documents and Settings\<YourUserAccount>\Local Settings\Temp\, and copy the whole directory ‘Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3’ to a new location (like c:\mytemp\).
6) Closed the installer once copy has completed.
7) Run the application ‘c:\mytemp\Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3\1.5.1.001\SetupARP.exe’ from the new location.
This will start the installation, and will not bring up the uninstaller (well it did for me.).
9) Once complete download all 4 (PSPPX3_Patch1.exe - PSPPX3_Patch4.exe), and run them in order. (Downloaded from the Corel downloads website: http://www.corel.com/corel/pages/index. ... pid=800007).
10) I also re-installed ‘PSP_X3_ProjectCreator’ as normal.
And I finally got it all working again. A bit disappointed that this issue has never been solved by Corel (based of my internet searching). I have purchased and used versions: 9, X, X1, X2, and X3 now of Paintshop Pro. X3 has by far given me the most amount of problems. Hope when I get around to X4, things are better.
Anyway, hope this helps someone.
Regards.

Re: How to remove PSPPX3 manually
Hi
To anyone who has been facing the same problems as me, this is just a quick update.
I finally, discovered the full problem. My virus-software (ZoneAlarm Extreme Security: 10.1.035.000), does not like version 13.2.1.32 of PaintShop Photo Pro X3 (PSPx3). After using it for a week after the initial reinstall, without any issues, I finally allowed PSPx3 to perform the update (that had caused the initial problem). I disabled ZoneAlarm during the update.
Once complete, I faced the same problem. ZoneAlarm would warn of an unusual DNS query from PSPx3 and then fail to load regardless of which option I chose (allow or disallow).
I had to go into ZoneAlarm:
• Application Control.
• Advanced Settings.
• View Programs, and select ‘Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3’.
• Options.
• Select: ‘This Program may use other programs to access the internet’.
• Select: ‘Allow Application Interaction’.
• Reboot, PC.
This makes PSPx3 load as normal. I think the problem is with the advert box PSPx3 displayed during loading. It must be populated from a website that ZoneAlarm does not trust or something.
Anyway, hope this helps someone.

Re: How to remove PSPPX3 manually
i was some what shocked to read #3
mine has 20 different unistallers from the drivers for my wireless usb to The Settlers Heritage of kings.
removing this directory will prevent the uninstallation of all of these.
this should never be done. this directory contains the uninstall information used by anything installed by install shield.C:\Program Files and open the folder "Installshield Installation Information"
and delete all folders inside.

Re: How to remove PSPPX3 manually
Two points here:
1) The first post on this thread for removing X3 looks straight forward, but it seems there are a lot of posts after that suggesting a lot of "do's and don'ts" for removing X3. Can anyone tell me if there is a definitive procedure for completely removing X3?
2) I also have X4 installed on this machine. Will the aforementioned process for removing X3 have any effect on my X4?
Thanks!
Kevin

Re: How to remove PSPPX3 manually
The new removal version 1.9 only list PSP PRO I'm not about to click on that.2) I also have X4 installed on this machine. Will the aforementioned process for removing X3 have any effect on my X4?
I have both PSPX2 and PSPX4 that I want to keep.
PSPX3 has 700 entries in the registry, these I would like to eliminate without digging each one out.
Any ideas?

Re: How to remove PSPPX3 manually
I successfully uninstalled after beating my head several times. NO software should be this difficult to uninstall.
I followed this procedure.....http://corel.force.com/index/articles/e ... oto-Pro-X3
I first activated the Vista Hidden Administrator account. Do msconfig and disable anti virus.
Ran windows Uninstall First. Ran Corel Uninstall Second.
Then did the deletions for PSP X3 and Ulead ONLY. If you can't delete using My Computer, use Windows Explorer, I ran into this problem.
Did the regedit removing PSP X3 and Ulead ONLY.
ReBoot and my machine let me Load PSP X3 without problems in the Vista Administrator account.
The procedure is not well written and has several errors that will kill other Corel Products if you follow the Delete and Regedit parts as written.
Probably should have included that you need to activate the Vista Hidden Admin account, my regular admin account didn't work.....Period.
Been a Corel user a Very long time and this uninstall routine sucks.

Re: How to remove PSPPX3 manually
Simone,
You last communicated in July to help me solve this problem
I have had two IT software experts work on this issue since August
We have followed every suggestion, repair, remove errors, check for corrupt files, clean files, search hidden files etc.etc.
At the end of the installation there is no error code it just says you have a previous version already installed and therefore it won't install.
IT DOES NOT INSTALL so I am most frustrated. I thought I might install a trial version PPX6, but why should I pay for something that I've already
bought and doesn't work.
I have used PPPx3 for years as a photographer. What do you suggest?
My suggestion is buy a completely different photo software that doesn't have anything to do with WindRiver
