Apologies for that Brian - Sometimes if there are posts in between a reply the answer may not be fully understood if the quote is not there. However as every forum is different I'll remember to use the "Post Reply" in the Corel forums in future.

I guess the workaround for the moment is to use X2 to finalise the disc and "normalize at that stage?

George

...if you feel you absolutely have to normalise... I personally have *never* normalised the audio on any of my discs. I control the audio manually -- the original audio, voiceovers and musical backgrounds -- within pretty rigid parameters using both VS's audio controls and an external audio editor, and thus don't find any need to normalise.

Ken,
Do you just use the "rubber-banding" to adjust in VS or is there a quicker way? I have speeches, music etc. I could use Audacity but I'm trying to limit the number of applications I have to use.

Nonetheless, it should work if we choose to use it.

Yes, I agree it should. I was simply saying that I personally have never seen it as necessary... even in versions where it may have worked.

And GeorgeC, yes, I use the rubber banding. It's klutzy to use at first, but you soon get used to it. Time consuming, yes, but whoever said that video editing was meant to be fast, let alone easy??  (And yes, I know someone is going to say: "Corel"!!... ) But I use it for the final balancing of sounds... I use Audacity (or Nero's Wave Editor) for doing the background music and voiceovers, and I keep those within a set Db range so that they don't require huge adjustments when I get to the rubber band stage... That way, I can enhance particular tracks for particular sequences, but keep the whole audio below a peak and thus avoid any possibility of clipping -- which is what I thought normalization was all about...
