Not included with full retail version?

Several users have been unsure where to post issues relating to the copy of MovieFactory 7 SE now supplied with VideoStudio X3. To make life easier you can post problems here.

I hope Corel will have a solution soon, the dutch helpdesk attended the product manager of the problem. Most of all I hope they will fix the 'build in' DVD Factory 2010, but MovieFactory 7 SE with Dolby 5.1 export will also give enough functionality.

I downloaded a try-version of MF7PRO, but my DVD works with my computer but will not play in my two living-room players .... :(
I used the standard MF projectsettings for PAL-DVD, only changed audio to dolby 5.1 and switched of smart-render because of using AVCHD source material. There were no problems making and burning the DVD (DVD+rw on a Samsung burner). Projects from Avid Liquid on the same disc with the same burner are playing without problems on my tv set.

MF7PRO isn't available for Europe, during installing I gave up "Nederland" (PAL), can do everything but DVD won't play without computer. Is there a region for DVD in the program? Is it burned for region USA or Australia?

The DVD from MF7SE is playing well on my standalone players ... only without 5.1 sound, what I need. :?

Richard, maybe not directly related to MF7, but you wrote that you unchecked smart render "because of avchd material". I own two sony avchd cams (sr11 and xr500) and never had to uncheck smart render. Recently I bought the tm700 (simular to your sd700) and now i need to uncheck smart render when I want to render (create avch file) from the tm700 footage. With smart render "on", vsx2 and also x3 stops rendering after a while (locks up). Do you know more why smart render needs to be deactivated for panasonic footage?

MF Pro 7 vs MF 7SE?

Post by drscripps »

Ken Berry wrote:Yes, the SE version can burn Blu-Ray.

As for the Pro (full) version of MF 7, it was originally only marketed in limited regions, though interestingly (and astoundingly) not in North America amongst other major markets! (Luckily, it *was* marketed in Australia and I bought mine in 2008...) I am not even sure the Pro version is still available on the Corel website... It did a variety of things not included in the SE version, yes, but it does all the essential authoring functions, including Blu-Ray.
Hello,

This board is really helpful (better than Corel's documentation).

Can someone kindly list what features are in MF Pro 7 but not in MF 7SE? I see in some posts that Dolby 5.1 is not included.

Since VideoStudio Pro X3 is currently US $60 and includes MF 7SE, what would I gain by purchasing MF Pro 7 which is currently more expensive (US $80) than VS Pro X3 itself.

Is MF 7SE essentially the same as MF 7 Standard? There's a link to a comparison table on this page:

http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... bview=tab0

From what I see the differences between MF 7 Standard and MF Pro 7 are:

Pro features missing in Std:

Import MPEG-4 AVC (H.264)
Dolby 5.1 (Std has 2.0)
Create Blu-ray disc menus (BDMV) disc
Create Blu-ray Java (BD-J) menus disc
Create Blu-ray recording (BDAV) disc
Create AVCREC disc (extra pack)
BDAV re-editing
AVCREC re-editing (extra pack)
Burn data on Blu-ray disc®
Corel® WinDVD 8.0 Silver (none in 7SE)
Corel DVD Copy 6.0 Standard (none in 7SE)

How do these 2 versions compare to 7SE? Corel does not say so on their website.

Can I burn data (not a video disc) on a Blu-Ray disc like in MF Pro 7? Or not?

No MPEG-4 import in 7SE? Doh...

Etc.

Thanks a lot!

Re: Not included with full retail version?

I have been using VS X3 to compile my movie but due to the lack of Templates when I "Share>Create DVD", I have reverted to VS X2 for this (A bit backward I know). In particular I did a memorial DVD with a smartscene menu that has a Canna Lily on it. I would prefer to us the latest program but lack of templates in X3 forces me to do this. I have a couple of questions -
  • Can I copy or import the old X2 smartscene templates to X3?
If so what folders are they stored in?
VS X3 shows DVD MF 7 SE and DVD Factory Pro 2010 - What is the difference?
Will DVD MF Pro 7 give me the variety of templates, including the smartscene with the Canna Lily?
I know it sounds pedantic seeking a particular template but for a memorial it needs to be somewhat subdued not like a holiday movie.

Any help/guidance is appreciated.

George

Not pedantic at all George - after all the menu/title sets the theme for the whole of the following video and needs to be right.

The good news is that yes - you can import the menu templates from any previous version into any other version - the bad news is that I am not at my editing machine and cannot remember which folders their in - BUT - they all have the extension .ufo - so if you do a file search looking for *.ufo you will find them all in seperate folders labelled according to what version they were supplied with and will have names that you can equate to the template like Clas (for Classical) or Hol1 ( for holiday) etc. - I just copied (rather than moved) templates from 10 to 11, 11 to 12 etc. - you may have to reboot or at least shut down VS and re-open to get them to show up in the gallery.

Can I also strongly recommend that you have a read of this thread :- http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=39028

which gives some information about the very extensive changes you can make to the supplied templates.

Hi Brian,

THANK YOU very much for your reply. I'll do a search and see what I come up with. With so many Corel/ULead products there will likely be many *.ufo files it is just determining the correct ones. Particularly finding the "Calla Lily" template. I saw quite a few but they were all Text menus not Smartscene but I'll keep looking.

Thanks again as any help is appreciated. (BTW I did Search on the subject but found many posts but not really specific to my questions).

George

I did a search and found 9664 files with the ufo extension. Is there any way I can identify these in VS or MF to determine their file name and therefore which specific file I'm looking for e.g. the Calla Lily one?

I found the VS X2 file I wanted 05vs_OneS03W_W.ufo however Win 7 won't let me copy it to the X3 Menu Template Legacy folder. I tried to change the attributes to remove the Read Only flag on the folder.
Any thoughts from anyone?

HMM - well perhaps someone else will be able to give you the file locations for the templates - failing that I'll find the correct path for you when I get to my PC later.

Not being able to move a file is usually a windows permission thing - must be possible somehow - do you have administrator rights..

Just had another thought - - aren't the template names displayed under the thumbnail in the Create Disc gallery ?? - could find them that way

Sorry to hear it now crashes George - I hope undoing the file move solved the problem.

Not sure where you copied the file to - you say "X3 Menu Template Legacy folder" there are a number of template folders - don't know about a legacy one, - - - anyrate , why X3 folders - that doesn't work for disc authoring - I assume you are using MovieFactory 7SE so the templates need to be in the MovieFactory directory.

You will find all the Templates for VideoStudio X2 (12) in C/Program Files/Corel/Corel VideoStudio 12/Content/Menu Template/4x3 (or 16x9) /one scene button (or scene button or text button) - when copying any files to Moviefactory you need to put them in similar folders or - you can make a new folder in 4x3 (or 16x9) to put them in , to identify them as I have moved them in the past I have called the new folder by the name of the version I copied them from - that way when I open the gallery in the create disc option I see another catagory to choose from.

I do not have MF7 - I use the last retail version available which is MF6 - and the directory structure I have for that is exactly the same - except that MF6 was marketed under the Ulead brand and therefore I have C/Program Files/Ulead Systems/Ulead DVD MovieFactory 6/Ulead DVD MovieFactory 6/Content/Menu Template/4x3 (or 16x9) with sub folders for scene button text button etc. - - -Now I would expect the path for MF7 to be very similar but with Corel replacing Ulead - - it is important that any templates you copy from X3 should go into the correct folder under 4x3 (or 16x9) as the 4x3 and 16x9 are the correct format according to your video format.

.
.
extra note - in case anyone thinks I got carried away with the path for MF6 - it is actually Ulead DVD MovieFactory 6 twice (- but MF7 may only have it once)

Thanks again Brian,

I have just purchased DVD MF Pro 7 and it has the template I want but I'm VERY DISAPPOINTED the "normalize audio" function has a well reported bug that has not been fixed. I wasted a few DVD's before I did a search and found out why in Preview mode, audio was fine but when I burned the disc with "normalize" the audio had disappeared (except for the menu music).

Come on Corel you need to read these forums and respond and fix the bugs reported. Were it not for these forums and the support of the moderators I'd have given up on these products a long time ago. So PLEASE give them some support and FIX the bugs when they are reported - Can't be too hard if you are committed to your products and customers. Which you are, aren't you?

I have just edited the post above directed to me to remove the quotation of my complete previous post - could you please use the "Post Reply" button - below here bottom left corner, instead of the "Quote" one - it gets very tedious for every one to keep seeing the same words repeated - especially if you quote a long reply.

And unfortunately no one from Corel officially posts here or reads what we say - I say officially because you will very occaisionally find an employee posting here but not in an official capacity.
