Manual MF 7 se

Post by janjatul »

I've got MovieFactory 7 se with my VideoStudio X3 and I am trying to use it.

There seems to be no help or manual available. I have found a link in the forum under Manuals, but that link leeds to a nonexisting file. I could however get the manual for MF 6. Maybe that's ok?

I also have one question. On the main Menu there is a window with previews of the videos.
As my videos start black fading after ten secs to picture, I would like the preview to start with the picture not with the black.
I guess there is a way to do this, but I have not been able to figure it out.

Thanks for any assistance! :)

I can't help with the Manual, I am afraid. But while there are some differences, the basic operation of MF 7 is not so different from 6 so you should get the idea.

But as for the preview question, if your video starts with a black panel, and if you play it in full in Project mode, then obviously it will start with the black panel. Otherwise, if you have the timeline widely extended, then place the start panel about 10 seconds in, and in Project mode, and press play...

Thanks Ken,

Thanks for your reply, I'll read the MF 6 manual.

As for my problem, I did not explain it properly.

I have loaded three videos into MF. In the next step they turn up as three headings on the selected dvd menu. There is also a black area on the dvd menu. In menu preview I can toggle between the headings on the dvd menu. The video belonging to the selected heading start to play in the black area. But as my videos start in black nothing happens until the play has reached the end of the black portion. What I would like is that after toggling to another heading that video should start to play in the black area on the menu with a time offset (of say 8 secs). This is of course just while I toggle between the headings. Once I select one heading and the video start to play normally I of course want it to play from the start.

(Sorry if I don't express everything clearly).

If I am understanding you correctly, then in the first screen of MF 7, after you have inserted your 3 videos, you highlight the first. You can then see it, still in that first screen, up in the preview window on that screen. But you can drag the job bar past the black frames at the beginning to where you want that video to start showing in the menu. Then you go back down to the thumbnail of that video in the timeline and right click on it; then select "Change Thumbnail". It should then show the frame you selected in the preview screen. And later, when you preview the whole disc, and burn it, the Menu screen for that video will start playing from that selected frame. Then you do the same for the other two videos.

I don't know the specific differences betwen the FULL version compared to the SE (Simple Edition) version.
However... you can download a copy of the FULL version manual Here

Thanks again Ken,

Following your link I find DVD MovieFactory 7 User Manual
but as I have noted this link:
<a href="http://www.humyo.com/F/6113409-618448335" class="postlink">DVD MovieFactory 7 User Manual</a><br />
turns out to go to File Not Found at humyo

As for how to get the preview video to start there I want it to, your advice as always is excellent.

So my sincere thanks,
Jan
