X3 interface too dark ==> Can it be customized?

Yesterday I finally upgraded from VS10 to X3. Generally I had been very happy with VS10's capabilities, but I was beginning to have problems editing and rendering complex videos. That said, I'm not sure that I am now any better off. (X3, before and after patches, crashes [unspecified error] when I attempt to capture video. It's not my intent to address in this post, though.)

My primary concern--and this may seem silly--is that the black interface is simply too hard on my eyes. The strain is unbearable with the X3 interface, as apposed to the easy-on-my-eyes VS10 interface color scheme. (Perhaps the side-effect of nearly 50-year-old eyes?) As an aside, I am sending my video card's DVI output to a quality LCD with the brightness properly adjusted.

I've done a quick check of X3's *.xml and *.ini files, and there doesn't seem to be an obvious means to set the default interface color.

Is changing the interface color possible?

This one is a real short, simple answer.. Nope, can't be done. Would be nice if it could be.

Try adjusting the brightness and contrast on your monitor.
If you have a laptop then adjusting the angle of the screen also has a similar effect.

Thanks. Definitely tried that. The black background just doesn't do it for me, I'm afraid. My eyes can't handle it.
