Here is what I have
WinXP SP2
Ulead DVD Workshop v 2.231
I have imported 4 different media clips. Each one lasts about 23 minutes long. I have tried them in several different forms. Divx, AVI, Mpeg2
I create several menus that ALL work during the "preview" function at the 'FINAL STEP' of the authoring process right before burning.
The links themselves are text words, with other menus from within the DVD linked to them.
During the preview mode, I can scroll the mouse over each text word (menu link) and the highlight image pops up right away with no problems.
I then burn DVD Folders, and then burn the DVD FROM the folders.
I put the DVD in the player (3 different ones) and the first 2 menus work fine (main menu and the first sub menu) After that... the remaining 3 sub menus WON'T work correctly. They won't let me select 2 out of 3 of their highlight imaged links AT ALL. I move the arrows, but it will just be stuck on one of the links.
BUT when I play it on the PC using PowerDVD, I can access 2 out of 3 of the menu links. (So only ONE not working on each sub menu) That makes it even weirder...
What the heck is going on here???
I have the latest update. I have tried starting the project from scratch several times, but nothing!
There are 3 on each menu, but only 1 of them works!
Menus not working. Links won't work!

C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information (Please set "Show hidden files and folders" in folder option in Control Panel)
3) Please delete the folder "Ulead DVD Workshop 2.0" folder in C:\program files\ulead system
4) Run Regedit from Start/Run in Windows task bar
5) Delete folder {9869D4DD-D553-40D3-8859-F8911D406C69} in KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\
(If available)
6) Then reinstall it again.
Please install the 2.231 patch from this link:
http://www.ulead.com/tech/dws/dws_ftp.htm

Update your burning engine by downloading the update from this link
(version 3.6.17.246):
Unzip the contents of this file to "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\DVD".
http://www.ulead.com/tech/general/burning_engine.htm
Thank You
I followed this EXCEPT step 3 and 5 (The file did not exist on my computer)
I am STILL getting the same problem. What could be going on here???
Anyone?

Wouldn't I get the usual "overlapping menu buttons found" WARNING before the 'finish' process, right before burning, if they were overlapping?GeorgeW wrote:check if you have an "overlapping" buttons on your menus (they might be too close to each other).
Can you post a screen shot of your menus?
I'd LOVE to post some images, but don't have web space.
Can I email them to you George?
And thanks for responding too
It could be your navigation control is messed up. Did you add buttons, then delete them, or replace buttons with other buttons at any time?
When you are using PowerDVD, don't use the mouse, instead, use the navigation control only (the 4 arrow buttons to move up/down/left/right). Can you access the buttons only using those arrow buttons?

I have created and re-created the menus so many times, I honestly can't remember George.GeorgeW wrote: It could be your navigation control is messed up. Did you add buttons, then delete them, or replace buttons with other buttons at any time?
I can say (if it matters at all) that the links fall into TWO categories:
All links that point to other menus and watching each video in it's entirety are TEXT words on the screen.
All links that point to chapters are actual moving clips of the chapters in frame boxes
You are right with this one. Using ONLY the arrow keys on the keyboards, I get the EXACT same results as playing it on the DVD Player. Some links work, others are NOT selectable at all.GeorgeW wrote: When you are using PowerDVD, don't use the mouse, instead, use the navigation control only (the 4 arrow buttons to move up/down/left/right). ALSO--
This all started when I tried to add video transitions from the MAIN MENU to each of the initial sub menus. That's when the "non working" links started.
I got rid of them once, and then ALL the links worked again. Then I had other problems conveting the Divx files (sub title issues), then re-did the menus and added the newly converted mpeg files.
Sorry, if that is TOO much info...
let me know what else ya need to know and if I can email you those screen shots.
Thanks again

RE: POSSIBLE overlapping menu links
Hey George,
Something else came to mind:
The menu for "EPISODE 1", and for "Episode 1 Scene Selections" works GREAT.
Now the remaining EPISODE menus (1, 2 and 3) and their scene selection menus are all copied and then RENAMED and some colors changed from EPISODE 1 menu.
So if it were a problem with overlapping menu links, THIS would be on ALL the menus (since they are all copied from the same menu) right?

*****UPDATE****
OK
After I reinstalled ULEAD and all the updates, I was still getting the problem.
BUT, I decided to start over ENTIRELY from SCRATCH!
I kept the same M2v files, and the AC3 files... (4 of each), and totally rebuilt EVERY menu
After all that, I was getting the SAME PROBLEM.
I burned the DVD folders and tested each link in PowerDVD using ONLY the arrow keys on the keyboard. I would find SEVERAL links that would NOT work or even show the highlight image.
All the links in workshop were pointing to the correct chapter/menus!
So, for every menu that had a BAD link I would delete the ENTIRE menu, and make a new one from scratch, re-adding the background, re adding and motion attributes and re-added the chapter windows (chapter selection menu).
THIS would solve about 95% of the problem
It worked for every "bad" link EXCEPT one. On the chapter selection scene for "Episode 1" I have 4 moving chapter windows with 4 highlight images. And centered a bit towards the bottom of the screen the link which says "Back to main menu" I can't get that one to work
Could this be a Service Pack 2 problem? What else could possibly be causing this??
I am really starting to think outside of the box now.
I am using AC3 for the audio for the 4 video titles, but using WAV and MP3 for the menu background music. Could that cause this?
I NEED HELP!!!

drag the main menu onto that button that is not working, maybe it just needs to be re-linked?
If I were trouble shooting, I would eliminate stuff, and add in until I found the problem. So, I would save the current project under a new name, then edit the new project. Remove the highlight images, remove the background music, and any other stuff you think might be cuasing the problem. Burn to DVD FOlders and test it out. add back in the background music or highlight images, etc...

I know from experience that Ulead's choice of which link gets highlighted when using the arrow keys is not always obvious. I don't remember ever getting links that I couldn't nagvigate to, but I wouldn't be surprised.
There are some utilities that let you choose which link is next for each arrow. I can't remember the name, but I think George W has mentioned them in the past. They are not simple tools, but it would be interesting to, at least, run them and see how the links are mapped for arrow movements.
Having encountered some odd behaviours in the past, usually a repositioning of the pictures/text on the menu page allowed things to work normally. Note, do not move them some place and then move them back.
Now, if your links are in straight columns, I have never had a problem with that orientation. But, if your links are 'scattered' around the page, it is worth moving the links around.
