X3 Damaged or illegally modified

Post by WebWeaver64 »

I am unable to install X3 on my desktop which is what all my profile info is from. I have tried the steps provided in this post:
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... x3#p198201

Didn't work, restored my computer to an earlier time, and am now receiving an error message on installation that nothing was changed, and windows installer is missing. I was however able to get X3 installed and working on my laptop. I really want it installed on my desktop as it is a faster system with more ram.

2 additional comments.
I was having issues with X2 Ultimate, which is why I purchased the upgrade (shut downs)
I recently reformated my hard drive because of this issue, however I'm hoping I don't need to do that again. I'd rather find what's causing this. I need this program

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you installing from a disc or from a downloaded installation file?

If disc.
Create a folder on your computers hard drive and copy the entire contents of the disc to the had drive and then run the set up file which is now on your hard drive.

If downloaded file
Extract the setup up files to a hard drive folder so that the folder looks like this:

Then run the setup.exe file

Yay! I got it running today, and found out what caused the problem, although I swear I had check this previously, so I might have had more then one issue, and the uninstalling fixed the other one.

Using task manager I closed everything that was un-necessary, I then found windows installer in the services, and started it.
Ran the install and it completed. Program started, and I rebooted, on reboot I ran into the same error. I shut down what was running 1 at a time, and found out it was Panda Cloud Security that was the culprit. So as of right now I'm running ... if I get stuck again I'll try your suggestion sjj!

Now I need to either find out why Panda is messing with PSP or find another virus protection program.

Just in case anyone else is running into this problem with Panda Cloud Security I did find a hotfix that did indeed fix this problem.

Or at least everything is working now at this moment in time.

Corel, and just about every other Software publisher, advises closing all running programs and disabling any Anti Virus programs before attempting to download or install a new program to any computer!
Glad you got it figured out.
