Aspect Ratio...

Post by martythebrit »

I'm using VideoStudio X3 with my Samsung SMX-K40 camcorder. If I pull the MP4 files directly from the memory card the aspect ratio is wrong, VS is displaying black bars on the side of the image. If I use the Samsung software to convert the files to another format such as WMV's, VS displays the image in the correct 16:9 aspect ratio. Is this a problem with the MP4 creation on the camera or VS?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Martin.

Cameras and camcorders deal with 16.9 aspect ratios in different ways. It is all down to the manufacturer how they chose to implement 16.9 on their piece of equipment.
If you intend to create a Video DVD then perhaps you need to convert the video to MPEG2 rather than WMV.
