I've been evaluating a bunch of products trying to capture a number of VHS tapes with a WinTV card. So far VideoStudio X3 is the only product that I've had any luck with, but I've run into a problem. So far everything I've tried has been under an hour in length and has captured fine. Yesterday I tried a two hour capture. About 1hr 11min into the resulting file there is a "blip" with nothing but a blank screen for a couple of seconds. Once video comes back there is no sound for the remainder of the capture. The capture is to a HQ mpg file for DVD.
The system is Intel Core Quad, 8GB RAM, Win 7 x64, capturing to a 4TB RAID set.
I'm going to try the capture again in case it was a one-off problem. I'd appreciate any insight as I'd really like to know for sure that this product will meet my needs before the trial period ends.

Re: Capture issue with X3
I don't know why that would happen...
If this is a Hauppauge WinTV card, it should have come with capture software. It's amost always best to use the capture-software that's specifically designed to work with your capture-hardware.
Once you've got a digital A/V file, you can use the editing and DVD-authoring software of your choice.

DVDDoug beat me to the punch!
But I was about the say much the same thing. I have an Winfast TV/capture DTV2000H card in one of my computers, and I invariably use the software which came with it for capturing. Then as Doug suggests, I simply open the captured video in VS for editing.
