Re: X3 and MF7: Wake me up before you go go
You are missing my point entirely or choosing to ignore it. VS Pro X3 is marketed as a complete product that allows the capture, edit and burning of a project which in its present state it is not capable of doing for me with my OS. MV 7 SE is not part of VS Pro X3 but a separate programe. If Corel were to advertise VS Pro X3 along the lines of "Well we could not get it to work fully so we are giving you a separate programe to burn the DVD with" then that would be honest advertising but they are not doing this. If they did I would suggest they would have a hard time getting anyone to purchase it. I know if I had seen this prior to purchase I certainly would have looked at other products.sjj1805 wrote:So you haven't tried out MovieFactory 7SE and so do not know if it is any good or not.

Anyway I am confident that I will receive a refund in my case.

Geesh, talk about nit-picking, and rest assured we understand your point...
Your argument still does not hold water. DVD Factory 2010 Pro, is not part of VS X3 Pro, it is a separate, stand-alone program as well. When you launch VS, the start-up screen has 3 programs for you to choose from, Advanced Edit (VS X3 Pro), Easy Edit (VS Express 2010) and Burn (DVD Factory Pro 2010). The DV-to-DVD is a separate utility, but not a full program like the other 3.
So even though Corel offers a remedy, which is a way of saying, oops we screwed up, you find some wording or lack of wording in their advertising that you don't approve of, and it's dishonest advertising? Not hardly. I don't think you had any intention of really wanting to use the programs. Like Steve said, let us know how you do with getting your refund...

Re: X3 and MF7: Wake me up before you go go
Sorry but YOU are wrong, it is marketed as part of the package. I did not download Movie factory 2010 separately and I did not purchase it separately it is incorporated into the VS Pro X3 program and is part of the download and advertised with the X3 advertising. I would not have paid for the product if I had no intention of using it. Every product has its supporters and I appreciate that most people on here would be die hard fans but I do not fit that category. I am a consumer who purchased a product that does not perform as advertised, end of story and it is why I am applying for the refund which as yet I have had no response to from Corel.Ron P. wrote:Geesh, talk about nit-picking, and rest assured we understand your point...

I have now resurrected my old XP PC which has a licensed copy of VS V9 on it and it works as advertised so I will stick with that as I have no need to do HD work at present.

Re: X3 and MF7: Wake me up before you go go
They did integrate them into VS X3, however each of them is a separate program. It makes VS X3 have the appearance of a suite. Prior to VS X3's release they released..... Corel Digital Studio, which is VideoStudio Express 2010, DVD Factory 2010 was part of Corel Digital Studio, and I don't recall right now if it was also at one time sold alone. So if integrating a program no longer makes it a stand-alone, then why if you have the Pro version installed, does DVDMF 7 Pro, not the SE version, open when clicking on the menu option in the Share Create Disc>? DVD MF 7 Pro certainly is a separate program.
From Corel's website about VS X3:
DVD MovieFactory is not the old burn module from previous versions, however those were nothing more than specially tailored versions of DVD MovieFactory..
If VS9 works fine for you, great!! I think that you're really missing out on some other neat things with VS's (Advanced Edit). What I am having a problem with is your claim or accusation of false or misleading advertising. Just because you fail to fully understand or investigate something you read does not make it misleading or false..
I do hope you do get your refund, as Corel does have a 30-day refund policy, and I'm sure they will honor it.
Now something that I just discovered while retrieving the above link, DVD MovieFactory 7 Pro has been released for sale in the US, what a nice surprise..
From Corel's website about VS X3:
Kinda shows what you're getting with the program doesn't it?New! Launcher
VideoStudio Pro X3 gets you right to the task at hand with the new Launcher. From one convenient location, you can start express editing, more advanced video editing, the DV-to-DVD wizard, or DVD Movie Factory™ 2010 for DVD and Blu-ray Disc™ authoring and burning.

The package that is sold and advertised from Corel as per their advertising simply does not work as sold. That is the crux of the matter, no mention is made of having to use another program other than Movie Factory 2010. I too can quote from Corels website:
andEnd-to-end HD video production
Import, edit and share HD video.
Enhanced! HD Capture and Import
Import HD video from anywhere, including HDV™, AVCHD™, Blu-ray Disc™ and JVC® HD camcorders. Import standard video from DV and analog camcorders, and Web, USB and still image cameras.
Enhanced! Blu-ray Authoring and Burning
Create your own Blu-ray titles, and author menus for DVDs and Blu-ray Discs, including BD-J menus.
New! H.264 Compression
Get incredible HD quality in smaller files by creating HD MPEG-4 files with the H.264 codec. This makes it easier to share videos on a variety of devices ranging from low-powered cell phones to high-powered Blu-ray devices.
Unlimited video sharing
Upload, burn, copy and share any way you want.
Enhanced! Online sharing
Share your movies with your own personal network or with the entire world in a few simple clicks. Upload your videos and slideshows directly to YouTube™, Vimeo®, Facebook® and Flickr®.
Enhanced! Format Flexibility
Save your movies to AVI, FLV, MP3 encode, AC3 5.1, AVCHD, HD MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and more.
Enhanced! Copy, Convert and Burn

Re: X3 and MF7: Wake me up before you go go
Well if you feel it is false advertising, I suggest you approach a legal expert on this. I don't think you'll have much luck with it. The "other" program (DVDMF 7SE) is a fix, to the disliked included DVD Factory Pro. It is their remedy. You may not agree, or like how they word things, however that does not constitute a criminal act.
