Greetings!
I have a Panosonic digital camera from which I use to be able to capture into MF6
Camera is seen by windows movie maker via a firewire, so I know computer sees it.
When i do a capture through
- NEW VIDEO PROJECT -Capture videos from video device ( camera icon)
I get the following error: "No capture device is available in the system" - I hit ok in response to this and the capture screen is greyed out.
When i do a capture through
-IMPORT/CAPTURE ( from launch page) - CAPTURE FROM DEVICE
I get the same error "No capture device is available in the system" and as above, if I hit ok in response to this and the capture screen is greyed out.
I tried re-installing the program from my downloaded copy, did repair, but did not help.
Since it is a downloaded copy I do not think I can delete the program via add/remove as that would get rid of my downloaded copy too (?)
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Matt

Re: MF6: No longer captures video; shows error
Try a couple of things..
1. Leave your camcorder off or not in playback mode, then launch DMF6, go to the capture step. Then turn on your camcorder/put into playback mode. You should get the windows prompt when it sees your camcorder. Acknowledge that, then see if DMF6 fills in the box for the source (DV). If not try #2...
2. With your camcorder on in playback mode, launch DMF6 and go to the capture step. Does it see your camcorder? Press the Play button on your camcorder so that it starts playing back your tape. Does DMF6 pick this up?
After reading your post, I tried it using my camcorder, and I had a similar issue, I tried #2 first, and DMF6 suddenly seen the camcorder and I was able to capture. After that I could use the launcher or from within DMF6 to capture. It seemed like it needed to see some footage..
Burn your downloaded installation files to a CD or DVD so that you'll have them whenever you need to reinstall the program. However just uninstalling the program should not delete the downloaded installation files.
