Inserting blanks between audio files

Post by Ian Sharpe »

Hi guys, its been a while since I have visited.

I am trying to make an audio dvd, ie a dvd with just mp3 files on it playing one after the other. I am using a static dvd logo as the image & inserting the mp3 files on the music track. This will be for playback on my sat nav system in my car. I hope to get about 8g of audio on a DL disc. So I wont have to ever worry about swapping cds etc.

What I want to do is have a sound gap between all of the mp3 files, there is going to be hundreds of files so is there an easy way of doing this> I thought about making a small mp3 file with no sound on it but then I would have to manually insert this between all the files, not an easy task.

Would be good if you could have transitions or something similar between audio files.

any help appreciated,

cheers

With DVD MovieFactory 7 Pro, there is a provision for adding gaps between your audio files. You can set the duration of the gap. Otherwise I think that you will have to do as you suspect, adding a silent file manually...

Hi Ian -- nice to see you back after such a long time! But I am by no means sure that your post has anything to do with VS or any other video editing/authoring application. I make mp3 audio discs all the time, and usually burn them to DVD, but I simply use Nero or a similar program and burn them as a data disc. And all of them appear to have a brief break between tracks.

Why did you think you had to use VS for a totally non-video task???

Suggestion....

Get yourself an IPOD or other Solid Sate media for playing musinc in a vehicle.

VS is probably not the best option!!

Most Car sound systems will pickup MP3 files saved to a a DVD as a DATA disk using NERO or similar software.

Yes, VS will do it by using the classic Video_TS/Audio_TS folders, with the emphasis for a change on the latter. But there are simpler ways of making such a disc...
