Recent VS updates

That is because there were two patches that downloaded. One had to do with correcting databases conflicts between VS and Paintshop, the other to do with smartsound performance. However, there seems to be a third update that not everyone appears to have recieved. If you go to the Corel website and to the support section, then the Knowledgebase section, you will see on the right hand side under Announcements a link for "Service Pack 1 for Videostudio Pro X3 available". If you click on that you get the message "Permission denied. This answer is no longer available".

So, there is apparently a bug correction patch, which some people appear to have recieved, but not all of us. Further, it appears that the link had been on their web site, but has since been taken down. Read what you will into that.

Jan -- thank you for your clarification. But from what you say, there should at least be a notification of that third update (MF 7SE) and that when you choose Install, if it detects that MF 7 is already installed as either SE or Pro, it does not download. However, I never even got a third notification...

There also appears to be an anomaly as to version numbers. Before installing the two update patches, my version number was 13.6.2.17, and it remains the same after applying the patches. Others here report 21 as the final number after applying the patches, and yet others appear not to have moved into the '2' category at all, with the original '0' remaining.

Needless to say, with some users still unable to download MF 7 SE (another thread), these latest anomalies are hardly calculated to inspire confidence...

I'm in the same boat as Ken, as I have not been notified of a third update.

To my knowledge I have not yet installed any updates. However, when checking Get More the only ones available are the SmartSound update and the Painter update. Where is this Service Pack announcement?

This whole system is too damn confusing.

I just compared the version numbers on two different computers. One computer already had DMF7 Pro installed, the other did not and so was offered the DMF7SE download.
Both installations are reporting that they are fully up to date.

Just to confuse us, the Do More and Get More tabs are irrelevant to this current exercise. Instead, you have to click on the 'Check for Updates' button in the little cogwheel icon which also has 'About VS' i.e. where you look for your version number.

The patch appears to have fixed the bug with X3 that was corrupting assembled AVCHD files. Now I can switch over from X2 to X3 to do my editing.

Launch the Corel Guide, then select the Product Information & Preferences icon (looks like gears) and select About Corel VideoStudio Pro X3. If your version is 13.6.0.367, you do not need to download this update. There are 3 components to the update, the files are called:

* VideoStudio Pro X3 Application Update - Filename: VSProX3_Patch2.exe, Size: 34,239,664 bytes
* SmartSound® performance update - Filename: VSX3_SS_Patch.exe, Size: 211,780,072 bytes
* "MLE" Database Engine update - Filename: VSX3_MLE_Patch.exe, Size: 57,032,512 bytes

This update applies to the language versions of VideoStudio Pro X3.

To install this update:

1. Close VideoStudio Pro X3.
2. Click the Download Link below to download the updates to your computer by saving it to your hard drive. Click Yes to save it to your computer, do not run it from the internet.

IT WORKED!!!! after re-downloading and installing I now have version 13.6.2.21!!

Same here -- and it was VSProX3_Patch2.exe which brought the final version number up to 21.

I think this whole episode just confirms that their online update system is simply not working correctly, and is allowing some people to get updates and whatnot, while others are not. You can tell from the various version numbers reported by people PRIOR to this patch link being put on their web site - obviously some people had the updated version of the program, while others did not. This may well be why some people are having horrible issues with the program, while others are saying "what are you talking about?- it works fine". I think when rendering assistance to someone who is reporting problems, the first thing to ask is what is their version number, because that may well be the source of their issue.

They need to junk the online system and go back to using links on their website. I have no idea why that wasn't done in the first place.

I am totally confused.

In the last few days I did succeed in responding to a confusing set of steps to install what I thought was all three updates. They were not in a form that in any way made me think it was a service pack. I did follow instructions and found I am now at VS X3 13.6.0.272 and tried to confirm that I have DVD Factory 7. It is NOT available in VS in the tab along with Pro 2010, but is available as a stand-alone program on my desktop. I have searched for more updates and Service Pack 1 and find none. Where did you find yours? When I check for updates via the normal process within VS X3, it replies with a message that offers a $30 savings on Paintshop Photo Pro X3 with no mention of updates. It must think I have all the updates, yet my version is not the latest that you mention.

I have not reached 13.6.2.21 and I DO NOT have DVD Facory 7 available as a selection under the tools tab in VS X3.

You have to go to the corel website and download it from there. If your version number is 272, you do NOT have the service pack.
