Hi gary and welcome to the Forum
I think your camcorder records to a card? That being so did you not have software provided with the camcorder to transfer the files direct from the card to the PC. It is always best to use the manufacturers supllied software to transfer your files. I think you will find that your camera records to MTS format wheresas when the files are transferred through the supplied software they take on the M2TS extension. VSx3 prefers this format, it often has problems with MTS files.

Re: Can't capture HD video
Hey Gary,
I have the same issue. I got spoiled having VSPX3 link directly to my old Sony tape camera and pull the videos right into the VSPX3 via a Firewire connection. I've spent the past hour researching this same issue. I recently purchased the HF20 camera. The only way to transfer videos I have found is to launch the Canon Transfer Software, then connect the camera USB and power connector. Then you need to press the transfer button on the camera itself. On my HF20 (yours maybe similar) it's the lower right button on the viewing screen.
If come up with another method please let me know and I'll do the same. I don't like being totally dependant on having to have the computer my software is loaded on to transfer videos off my camera.

If you use two PC from time totime there's nothing to stop youputting the Canon software on both. You will only use one at a time fter all. It relly is better to use the software provided by the camcorder manufaturer as the resultant files cause less problems in editing IMHO

Re: Can't capture HD video
I have completely failed to capture video from a Canon MV901 DV Camcorder which uses mini DV tapes. I can capture with WinDV via firewire but never with VS Pro X2. So I went out and bought X3 and it also results in "Corel VS Pro... is not working" and closes it down. Having paid out for two versions and not even being able to get started makes me very frustrated. Please help.

Re: Can't capture HD video
If you purchased the product through the Corel online store then they provide a 30 day money back guarantee. I have just exercised my right to this refund as for me VideoStudio Pro X3 just does not do what it is advertised to do. In my case I am unable to use this product as it is sold to create a DVD as the application continually terminates immediately the Create DVD button is selected.tgwiz wrote:I have completely failed to capture video from a Canon MV901 DV Camcorder which uses mini DV tapes. It makes no sense to continue buying Corel products if they are not working for you, save the aggrevation, time and effort and try a different product.

Re: Can't capture HD video
Yes, I'm coming to that conclusion too, especially as since my last posting I've tested it out on different computer using Windows XP and had exactly the same outcome. I just wish though there was some form of informed response from Corel here that admitted their deficiency and offered a solution. I guess that's too much to ask!
