What is "Corel Users Deal" for New Blue FX?

Post by aljimenez »

Using the "Get More" link brings up page that claims to give Corel Users a Special deal for New Blue FX. However the so called Corel Users special page does not even offer a trial, and the price is no less than what any ordinary person gets when visiting their website, which includes a free trial. Am I missing something? If this is true, why is Corel playing part in this ridiculous offer?

It's called marketing. Apparently NewBlue is allowing their products to be included in VS with the trade-off being they have a captive audience to try to sell to.

I see nothing rediculous about it.

No, not so much Accolades..

SInce we don't own the software (VS), we purchase a license to use a copy of it. Corel can put any content it desires in the program, including advertisements. There's probably something in the EULA that we agreed to allow them to put 3rd party advertisements in front of us.

Some may in fact call it spam, however they would not be accurate.

Perhaps I did not make my point clear. I am not objecting to the Adv. I am objecting to the deceitful Adv. The link is supposed to give Corel users some sort of deal. However it is not any deal to Corel users since the deal is identical to any other non-Corel User. That is why I called it ridiculous. I would have no issues except for the deceit... Al

Some definitions for the word "deal":
to trade or do business
to have dealings or commerce
a business transaction
a bargain or arrangement for mutual advantage

Nowhere did I read the words discount, rebate, etc. in the definition of "deal".

How am I ridiculous? Look it up yourself. The word "deal" doesn't mean a discount. Discount is never mentioned in the offer or advertisement. It's a "special" offer to VideoStudio users, much like an infomercial's "special" offer of "if you order right now we'll send you a second one absolutely free". There's nothing special about that either. Everyone gets it. It's called marketing.

This type of marketing is beginning to show up in a lot of software. Personally I do not like the get more idea but without rhe income generated by it many of the companies that we use would either a. go out of business or b. raise the price of the product. They are in business to make money and in today's economy they are doing what is necessary to survive.
Deal or no deal it is probably the future of most software

I never mind marketing as long as it is truthful and not making claims that are false; which is what I am making sure every Corel user knows. The New Blue FX marketing is not truthful; their "deal" is labeled a "Special offer" for Corel users. Don't listen to Black Lab, who has dropped several notches in my mind as a trusting spokesperson of this board; this New Blue FX marketing is deceitful, except to Blacklab's poorly focused defense. How about focusing your energy, Mr Blacklab, as spokesperson for this board, to ask Corel to get a true deal for Corel users and stop defending an indefensible position? Al

If you look at the price of new blue effects then you will see that they are all very expensive, so much so that I haven't bought any. I am impressed with the fact that Corel have made a deal with New Blue and so have been able to include some of these EXPENSIVE effects as a part of the VideoStudio package.

It is a small "price to pay" having to ignore the adverts that you see in the "Corel Guide" (Get More / Do More system.)
No worse than having to put up with adverts when you do a Google Search. In fact it was only a few days ago that I was reminded in the "Corel Guide" that you can download a fully functional FREE version of Sonic Fire Pro 5. I had read about it some time previously - I think one of our members posted about it here on this Web Board but I never sort of "got round to it."

Thanks to that reminder in the Corel Guide I have now downloaded my FREE copy of Sonic Fire Pro 5.
I have no problems or issues with this form of advertising, no one is forcing me to purchase anything I do not want.

FWIW, I am not a "spokesperson" of this board. I am not employed by, paid by, or otherwise endorsed by Corel. I am simply a user like just about everyone else who visits this board. My opinions are mine and mine alone.

Mr. Jiminez, I challenge you to prove how this marketing tactic is deceitful. What did they promise you that you did not get?

What kind of "deal" are you looking for? Perhaps if you would enlighten the marketing team at Corel with your apparent vast marketing expertise they could better serve you.
