Sorry, no experience with MPEG-4, but you have a non-standard frame size, try 720 x 576. As far as I'm aware, the MS MPEG-4 codecs are not true MPEG-4, but a bastardised version thereof, but, as I say, I have no experience. Any MPEG file with the extension AVI is fishy, it would seem. I'm away from home just now, so cannot look up the official standard, but I think the extension should be MP4.

Maybe someone else who has used MPEG-4 can chip in here with more effectiveness.

The frame size 720 x 432 is outside the DVD standard. It may be that DVDWS is converting the video and hangs up because some other aspects of the imported file are not right either.

Try converting the file to a DVD compliant format prior to importing it into DVDWS.

What more help do you need? Have you tried everything that various guys here and in the other thread have already suggested or are you just digging your heels in, hoping that your non-standard videos will miraculously sort themselves out?

If you really want help, tell us all the things you have tried.

If you told us how you were capturing the video at such an odd format, it may be easier for us. Please stop trying our patience by giving us information.

ok, ripped a dvd using Dvdx ripper (freeware), then converted to mpeg by 'Ulead video studio 7 se DVD' it was too big so then i converted the mpeg file through Auto gordian using codec Xvid.

then imported the avi which i got from auto gordian to dvdworkshop 2 ,i just tried it on another dvd programme and it worked fine it didn't crash. But i reali want to burn it using dvdworkshop 2.0.

Are you being serious???

You rip a DVD
You convert it to MPEG
You convert it to XVid
You convert it back to MPEG???

What kind of quality are you wanting?

If you simply want to burn a DVD from a DVD, there are many softwares available to make exact copies, with all accessory files, menus etc, or even compressed ones without all that rigmarole, even double layers.

Right, numbers: Let's assume your original DVD is single layer. It has a max size of 4.3 Gb, so your converted copy will also be the same size. If you import that into DVDWS2 as a compliant file, you will need a further 4.3 Gb, 8.6 in all. If you use an intermediate format (of whatever size), you will need to re-encode it to MPEG2, so you will need an EXTRA 8.6 Gb, so where are you saving on space??? And the double conversion will destroy the quality.

I'm sorry, I just do not follow your logic. Pourquoi faire simple, si on peut faire compliqué?

 I would send it through the dish washer once or twice, that may do the trick, can't do any harm after all that

Hi,
yes i'm serious i know you can make copies but i didn't want that. I wanted to make my own dvd i ripped songs from another dvd to make one with the songs i like. I ripped one song it came up to 300mb which is too, big so , then someone told me about AG ripp to Xvid , but auto Gk doesn't open with AVI's so i had to then convert the 1st ripp to am mpeg and then open it in GK so i did and the quality s was superperb on 35mb, pity dvdws didn't like it and your right the quality came out awful not to mention interlaced on the play back. So then i tried the avi way, and with the same amount it said out put 4.2 gb, which is good but like i said it doesn't like the format it keeps on crashing

when you say you ripped songs from another dvd, are they music videos, or audio tracks?

who owns the rights to the music videos?

if you own the rights to the music videos, and you burned them to a dvd disc using a standalone dvd recorder (assuming this from another thread), then just import the videos from dvd disc using DWS's import feature. There's no need to Rip, Encode to Divx, etc...
