Pro X3 shuts down during burn

Post by r2sanford »

I have been using Video Studio Pro X3 since January with great success.
Last weekend I deleted temp files - first time in a long time - may or may not be relevant.
I'm burning a movie version with 10 youtube clips which I saved as mp4.
I'm using NTSC on a dvd, mpeg 2 (because of the desire to get it all on one disc).
Went to burn a movie yesterday, but got an error message (has stopped working...) after 2 minutes. Tried many things. Finally uninstalled, then reinstalled program.
Again I got an error message.
Can anyone help?

I assume you are going straight from your project to Share>Create Disc? Instead, try Share>Create Video File and set the properties for NTSC DVD. After the file is created start a new project (to get a blank timeline) then go to Share>Create Disc. Insert your newly created video file and burn.

Well, I tried to make a video file, but the program shuts down after ~20 seconds. I emailed Corel yesterday, but have not heard back from them. Should I uninstall manually, instead of using Windows and then try to reinstall? Or something else?

I suspect VS has a problem with one of the video clips. The only way to figure out which one, is trial and error, and yes it is time consuming. In your project you will need to remove one clip at time, attempting to render each time.

Since you are using VideoStudio X3 we have no idea which of the two authoring programs you are using.
Prior to VSX3 there was one built in authoring stage which you access by way of the [Share] Tab - [Create Disc]
With VSX3 things have changed and when you go to the [Share] tab and select [Create Disc] you now open up another program.
Originally this was DVD Factory Pro 2010.
However this program is fraught with problems - so much so that Corel have now given a free download link for DVD MovieFactory 7 SE to anyone who does not already have DVD MovieFactory 7 Pro.

If you have not already done so then please download and use the alternative program.

Thank you. I'll try first by checking the clips. I've tried the Easy Edit, Advanced Edit, Factory Pro (I'll download the link) etc. I sure appreciate the help!

I have just downloaded VideoStudio X3 from Ulead website last night and when I go to create a disc it starts DVD Factory Pro 2010 then this application terminates almost immediately and I get an error message saying the program has stopped working. This is really not acceptable from a software application that is suppose to be compatible with Windows Vista Home Premium 64. I have not seen anywhere that states do not use DVD Factory Pro 2010 until I read this in your post above. Where do I find the link to DVD MovieFactory 7 SE and how do I integrate its use into VideoStudio X3 as I would think it is hard coded to start DVD Factory Pro 2010.

I have exactly the same problem, as soon as you select creat disc the DVD Move Factory 2010 attempts to start then terminates almost immediately with a "Program has stopped working"message.

You have to wait at least 3 days following installation of VideoStudio before the "Get More / Do More" system kicks in and offers you various updates including MovieFactory 7SE. This is a quick fix and it is not ideal, however it is being looked at to see if the matter can be better addressed in some other manner, perhaps by a service pack.

Well this will be the last time I will be purchasing any Corel product that is for sure. Basically this product is not suitable for the purpose it was purchased as it quite clearly does not work as stated.

I haven't tried to install the update to the movie factory yet, but I re-downloaded the clips and the program worked fine!
Thank you all for your help. I would never have thought of doing this on my own. :D
