Overlay flicker during playback on some TV's / projectors

Post by Alasdair »

Hi I wonder if anyone can help me...

I am running VideoStudio Pro (V7) with a standard imported PAL video where I need to construct a multilayered picture in picture overlay in a percentage of the screen. I start with a standard "wash" background colour imported by using a Jpg (deinterlaced) and then using the title overlay on top of the background colour wash I put the text. However, when the completed video is replayed via a DVD player on either a projector or most TV's the bottom edge of the background wash and some of the overlay text flickers... Have I missed an update, or can someone tell me if I have set the compression incorrectly for the complied file (usually set for MPG2 at 14000 kbps )

Many Thanks

Hi,
I am impressed,
usually set for MPG2 at 14000 kbps
I rarely go above 8000kbs and I do not bother to go below 5000 kbs.

My problem is usually I forgot to capture the stills using de-interlace setting in the UVS9 Options settings.

The only other setting that I can think to watch for is in the UVS9 Create Disk tool, be sure to select the (preferences) icon in the botton right of the screen and select "Apply Anti-flicker filter".

Beyond this I hope some one else can suggest something for you. However could you please give a bit more detail on the source of the images, and the settings your using to burn your DVD.

Hi,

Don't let the colors of text or background exceed 0-0-0 to 235-235-235 (PAL).

Thin 1- - 2-pixel lines also flicker.

14000Kbps far exceeds the limits of the DVD spec. There isn't a DVD player on the planet that is required to play that video, and many older ones will choke even around 8000Kbps.
