I have fought numerous battles trying to get VS to work with my AVCHD files (which only stopped working once I "upgraded" to X3). I was/am ready to dump Corel eventhough we've been dating for 5 versions now. Getting to know new software and finding the right one is proving painstaking, so I'm considering overlooking Corel's AVCHD flaw as long as converting my files doesn't totally blow and I don't lose any quality. So, I need a solid recommendation as to what format I should convert to.
Thanks! ~Ken

Re: Converting AVCHD to what???
That depends on what the final result will be - DVD, YouTube, etc.

Re: Converting AVCHD to what???
As you are looking to produce HD videos it seems a great shame to not use the original M2TS files. How about trying to resolve your problem with the AVCHD?
Where do the files come from? how do you import them to your PC? Can you successfully import them to a library from your PC?
Where exactly does VS stop working, where in the workflow?

Re: Converting AVCHD to what???
I have tried to solve my problem with AVCHD in numerous ways, but without success. The most aggressive was to reload Windows 7, fresh download of VSX3, fully updated direct X and all drivers, imported with Sony software. The best I got was a crash at the end of rendering that yield a file with audio sync issues.
I'm dumping Corel. Cyberlink PowerDirector is WAY hotter, renders WAY faster, menus are intuitive and easy to figure out. Who would of thought a company named Cyberlink would beat Corel, Adobe, and Sony?
