Of course you can...!!! What you expect to get from it, however, I have no idea!!!

What do you really expect will happen when you have PAL video (720 x 576 at 25 fps) mixed with NTSC (720 x 480, 29.97 fps)??? Something's got to give. If you output to PAL, then somehow or other, magically, the NTSC video has to invent 96 more horizontal pixels but lose nearly 5 frames per second. To my mind, that suggests that the NTSC clips are going to appear a little fuzzy and slightly jerky... Doesn't it to you? There are enormously expensive programs out there which might be able to adjust one TV system's video to the other, but Video Studio is not one of them...

I have some NTSC (quicktime) clips and want to edit them with some footage from my Canon HG10 which produces mts files- does anyone know how I could convert these files to work together - I want to output them to put on youtube etc
Any suggestions please

Many thanks

quick way, put the ntsc clip on the timeline and output as pal, then make new project and edit together. As Ken ahs said, the ntsc won't be good quality now in PAL, but it may be good enough for what you want.
Best way is to use a standards converter, like Canopus Procoder or Sorenson Squeeze.

I haven't used Squeeze, but have used Procoder and it does a very good job. But it falls squarely into the expensive category...

If you are going to youtube try using VSX3 to edit & convert the NTSC video file to a frame based WMV file. In a seperate VSX3 project do the same with the PAL based video file, edit & exporting to the same frame based WMV properties as above.

You'll have two seperate files now of the same properties and you can then add them together.

They still won't be the same properties. One will run at 25 fps and the other at 29.97 fps.
