So you're getting the error from trying to download from Corel's website? Are you choosing to save the files to your computer, and then installing? Never try to install or run file from the internet. Save it to your computer, then run it.illyad wrote:When I try to download the patches I get a message that states it cannot find ulead dvd moviefactory 4.0 on my system. ???

Where did you get the "box" from - was it from "Ulead" (now Corel) or from somewhere else such as Ebay.illyad wrote:I do not know if it is the "vanillia version" or disc creator. Box says ulead DVD moviefactory 4. Lets asuume its the vanillia version. I will download the patches via your link and comment after I try it again.

MF$ was purchased at a retail outlet, possibly BestBuy.

If you have DVDMF 4 Disc Creator you're start-up or splash screen should look like this:
You should also have a Launcher, that looks like this:
Look in the downloaded PDF file, and these should be the only ones you need to download and install.
There are separate patches for those that were using Win98 or WinME, of DVD MovieFactory 4.0 bundled with SANYO Xacti VPC-CA6, a patch for those using Hauppauge or Terratec devices and if you have problems importing from DVDs, then you may need to download the "dll" file..
It's been a few years since I've had DMF4-DC installed on my system, however I just did manage to install it, and installed the updates/patches without any problems on my WinXP machine..
Again I'm curious as to how you're getting the error when you're just attempting to download the file(s)? There is no checking for programs occurring during a normal download. Just elect to save the file to your computer. Once the file is downloaded, THEN run the file. It just seems you may be selecting to RUN the file from the website. If not then you may need to completely reinstall the program. Are you installing it to the default location of C:/ ? The program may not look to any other drive for the program. When I import a DVD from my set top recorder, I get this error message: Failed to open DVD. Report ID: 0x800408ff(2303). I was able to import the same DVDs before I applied the latest patch.
o
Please download this file: http://ftp.ulead.com/silent/DVD_MovieFa ... Parser.dll Copy and paste it into this folder: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\DVD
Note: Make sure you have also installed the latest patch for MovieFactory 4.

Re: unable to burn dvd+slideshow on MF4
So now we're back at crashing when attempting to burn with audio. Check your Project Settings (Gear icon in lower left) to see if you have the box checked beside Treat MPEG audio as non-DVD compliant. If you do not, check it. While you're at the project settings, are the audio properties set to MPEG audio, Dolby Digital, or LPCM? If possible try using Dolby Digital, and just leave the audio bitrate at its default value of 256.
Rather than wasting DVDs, uncheck the option to Record to disc, and select the option to Create DVD Folders. This way you can test it to see if it crashes, and if the folders are created, the audio is included. If so, I would think that the audio files are not corrupt, and you may have a problem with your brand of media, or even a hardware problem with your DVD burner.
What DVD discs are you using? Is it a DVD-R, DVD +RW, DVD-RW? If it is one of the latter 2, try using a DVD-R. Try another brand of disc. This is puzzling, because you say you can burn a disc so long as the audio is left off.
Another thought.. If you have multiple harddrives, or partitions, try moving the audio, images, and video files that is being used in your project, into the same folder on the same partition or harddrive.
It seems that you're able to insert the audio files into your project, so what you might try is using MF4 to convert your original files to WAV files. Then open your project and insert them.
I hope something starts working, as I'm certainly running out of ideas on why this is happening and what to do to correct it..
