file too big for burning

Post by revs »

Hi,
I have created my first master piece and it is timed at 32 mins but when I try to burn it to DVD (my DVD disk is 4.7GB) I get a run time of nearly 3 hours. The message says not enough room on the disk. Can anyone help.? I have Video Studio 7 and am a newbee!

The best thing I can tell you to try is to first burn it to your hard disk (VIDEO_TS directory). This will give you the true size that file. Then you can run DVDShrink against the directory and create a file small enough to burn.

The strange thing to me is that you mention that you are burning a 32 minute project. Even at 8000kbps it should fit on a 4.7GB disk without a problem. What are the properties of your project?

Maybe he's not using .AVI format.

Hopefully, he is not using AVI format, 32 minutes AVI would certainly be too big for a DVD. Also, the DVD standard calls for mpg2 format. 8)
