Videostudio 9 Upgrade

I have just re-installed windows twice, don`t ask. However, I have bought the upgrade version of Videostudio 9. Now I always thought that I would need some sort of verification that I was running a previous version of Videostudio, in fact I have all the versions from Videostudio 4.
When I reformat my hard drive and re-install Windows, does this action remove all traces of an earlier version?
I have just installed Videostudio 9 Upgrade without any request to confirm a previous version.
When I use a Pinnacle Studio upgrade it always makes a request for a previous version. Any comments please.

I would have expected that UVS9 would have required to see a UVS version installed or wourd have requested to see if there was a CD. However Ulead may have chosen not to use such painful methods for ensuring people purchase their product, and relied on the fact that the trial has only some components, while when you have the full version, you can download the extra contect and updates, and apply these to get the full benefit of the package.

I sure like my UVS9.
