MPG Video File, playing problems

hello there,..
i made a video and saved it as *.mpg ( i believe it's the highest definition)
and itried to turn the saved video with winamp,... winamp got stuck.
i tried with windows media player and played for 0:02 seconds out of 0:18 seconds.
i tried with VLC same thing..
i tried with Nero Showtime and it worked fine.. till the end

what's wrong?

SUBJECT: a problem running a MPG file with softwares

i am using Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus, i created a video of pictures and saved it as *.avi first.. but is wasn't 100% HD
so i tried to save it as *.mpg and the quality was the same as the pictures (that's what i was looking for to see ) .
BUT,.. when i try to run the saved MPG video with VIDEO PLAYERS i get werid problems:

1. Winamp Software v5.572: winamp get stuck and shutdown.
2. Windows Media Player 11: if the video is 0:18 seconds it runs for 0:3 seconds and stop.
3. VLC Video: same as in windows media player
4. Nero Showtime: it runs perfectly,..

so what? MPG files runs only with nero? or there's something i need to know?
