The preview is just a preview, as it's not good on the finished video, tell us the file type, (jpeg/bitmap) it's sizes (640kb 280x320 or maybe 5mb 1080x1500).

Re: NECESSARY HELP: help with video quality.
When you render a video - [Share] tab - Create Video
You will find it takes a long time to create the new video. It is not uncommon for a 1 hour video to take a hour and half (or longer) to render - it depends upon how powerful your computer is. When you preview a video it does so immediately - your 5 minute clip takes 5 minutes to play - there is no delay. There is of course a reason for this - creating a video takes time, there is a lot of work to be done. So briefly - your preview video WILL be blurry, the sound will probably not be as sharp - everything is sort of rushed so that it can provide you with a PREVIEW.

i am not talking about Saving the video yet,..
the pictures i am talking about is : 1024 x 760,.. 180 KB each.
when i put two pictures in the timeline for a test,.. and run Play IT BECOMS blurry..
but after i save it as AVI it stays blurred.
but when i SAVE it as MPG,.. it works fine.. sharp..
but there's another problem when i save it as (HD DVD) *.MPG
i try to run it with winamp.. winamp get stuck
i try with media player it runs for 2 seconds out of 18 seconds
i try with VLC it runs for a few seconds
and when i try with NERO SHOWTIME . it works.. fine.. till the end?

Re: NECESSARY HELP: help with video quality.
You say you select HD DVD as the output. That was of course possible in VS11, but that format is now dead so I am not surprised that most software cannot play it. The winner in that particular race was Blu-Ray...
But that in turn begs the question of exactly what you are trying to produce. Are you trying just to produce a DVD? If so you just 'save' it as a DVD-compatible mpeg-2 -- possibly the same .mpg you have already successfully produced (Share > Create Video File > DVD).
But if you are trying to produce a high definition disc, then you either choose to produce Blu-Ray -- though you need a Blu-Ray burner, discs and player if you do so. (Or you can just produce a Blu-Ray folder and play that on a software player rated for Blu-Ray). The other option is to produce what is called an AVCHD hybrid disc -- you convert your project ('save') as AVCHD and burn it to a standard DVD but with a Blu-Ray directory structure (BDMV). However, again that can only be played on a rated Blu-Ray player.

All you need to do then is create a DVD FILE and use a program to play/view it.sanfor wrote:i see,.. i am not trying to produce a DVD or burn a disc

Re: NECESSARY HELP: help with video quality.
When you create your video file, are you using one of the interlaced options (Lower Field First or Upper Field First) or Frame Based? Since your video will be of still images, use Frame Based. Also uncheck the option Non-square pixel rendering. This is meant for videos to be viewed on television sets. Finally try unchecking apply anti-flicker filter for images. This is trial and error, as it is meant to reduce the flicker in images, and if your images have lines that are run vertically, you could see some flickering.

This is a small size for a 1024x760 image, where did it come from? Can you get a better version?sanfor wrote:

Re: NECESSARY HELP: help with video quality.
You can change those options in a couple of places, the Preferences (File Menu>Preferences or Pressing F6 on your keyboard), Project Properties (File Menu>Project Properties or Pressing Alt+Enter on your keyboard), then in the Share step, Create Video File. Here's some screen-shots of VS11, showing where those settings are found.sanfor wrote:thanks for the tips

Re: NECESSARY HELP: help with video quality.
Those are not the same, the first one is a screen-shot from the Share>Create Video File>NTSC MPEG-2 or DVD. The 2nd one comes from the Share>Create Video FIle>Custom option. In the first screen-shot you can see there are no other tabs available.
Look at the Dialog window's titles, and other information. I wanted to ensure I was providing images that would show where those options are found, no matter what route you took. In the Preferences dialog, you can set the default field order, however you can also set the field order in the Share>Create Video File>Custom>Options. If you use one of the templates (...Create Video File>NTSC (or PAL) DVD), you will not have the Options button, and can not do any further customization, other than what is presented on the single tabbed dialog that opens.
The key to learning how to really use the program, is experimentation. If there's buttons press them, find out what opens, what's available. Make some setting changes, run some test renders to see what settings do. If the render comes out complete trash, then you know, and can just delete the created file. The great thing about digital video editing, or Non-Linear Editing (NLE) is that your source files are not touched, so you have them to use again and again.
Please don't be offended by the following, don't take it personal, as it is not intended to be taken personal, or directed toward only you...
OK??
Written communication like forums, it is difficult to really convey or understand what and why things are "being said". Sometimes it is real easy to formulate a mental image of the other person's actions or in-actions. With some questions I get the impression that the person is fearful of clicking on a button in the program. It appears they come to a point, and seem to stop, not try to push forward, waiting for an answer on the forums. I would go nuts, waiting to see what is suppose to happen. So for example when I did not know much about the programs, when I opened them, I started clicking on the menus, like the File menu, then seeing what each one of those presented and/or done. I have a folder or two on my system that's called Test videos, or just Test. This is where I put the created video files, done by experimentation..
So anyway it just appeared that when you posted the question asking where you can edit those settings, that so far you have not really looked around the GUI, to become familiar with it. Don't let the program be your master, be the master of your program..
