PRO X3 Slideshow

Post by jbgreen31 »

I am new to this board and I apologize if this answer is somewhere else. I searched but could not find anything.
I am creating a wedding video and at the end I want to take photos and display them with the look that the camera is panning around. I know this may not be describing it the best. Basically theres a picture, then the screen pans down to a new picture, then to the right for another picture, etc... The screen would appear to move around the pictures, not that the pictures would be moving. Im pretty sure I saw an example of this in corel's youtube channel. Does anyone know how this can be accomplished?
Thanks,
Jay

Not sure about the process for X3, as I don't have it on this machine, but it is probably very similar to previous versions:

With a pic selected in the timeline, under the image library you should see a button for Pan & Zoom. Select it and you will be able to click the Customize button to change the parameters as you wish.

Won't pan and zoom just do that with the same photo and not additional photos?

You apply the filter to each photo. In past versions there was a "wizard" that would apply it to your entire project. I don't know if that is available in X3.

Another alternative you could try would be to create your project, without the p&z, then save it (as a .vsp file). Start a new project and insert that vsp into the timeline. That vsp is now treated like a single clip that you could apply the p&z to.

To have the appearance of panning from one photo to another, place your photos in an overlay track, then use the Enter and Exit arrows under Direction/Style. You will need to use a couple of overlay tracks, staggering the photos and overlapping them. You can apply a pan to each photo to match the direction the next is entering, along with a fading in and out or just use a hard-cut transition (no transition). This takes some playing around with to get the timing of the photos pans and enter/exits down.

I really don't think that it has been solved.JBGreen pointed out a specific template, that he apparently does not have, and he is not alone. I've checked both my laptop and desktop installations, and I also do not have that template.

I wish that Corel would at least use templates for their tutorials, that, that they include with the program. :x :x

When you view the tutorial, at the part where the Instant Project is dumped into the editor, look at the WMV file in the main video track. Then to determine if you might remotely stand a chance of having that template, simply do a search on your system for that video file. In the tutorial, that template uses the video file, HD-Photo Album.wmv.

This was exactly my question, albeit better worded. How can I find this template?

I was able to quickly figure out a "Pan and Zoom" slide show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pl9JsBxvoM

Import all your photos into the assets screen > insert them one at a time into the time line in the order you want > then apply the FX filter "Video Pan and Zoom" to each photo you want Panning and Zooming (because the title of this filter is so long it only shows "Video Pan..." in the collection of filters) > Then edit the filter on each photo. There is a screen where you can edit the start and end size and location (Zooming and Panning) of each photo. I also inserted a dissolve transition to each photo. Add titles and then a music track and you're there. Hint, go to preferences and enter a Global or Default amount of time for each slide. You can adjust the time of each in the time line. But if you wanted 6 seconds each and the default is set for 4 seconds, you have to adjust each slide. This will save you some work.

I've only been hacking at this for a couple of weeks and I get better every time. Just think what I could do if there was a book........ hint hint.

Welcome to the forums KD..:)

Nice slideshow, however I don't think that's what the OP is after. The example the OP linked to involves a specific template used in the Instant Project wizard, which Corel uses in their tutorial. However that template is not found in our installs.

Also you're method using a video filter is one way to create pan/zoom slideshows, another is to use the Pan/Zoom found on the Photo tab, beneath the Resampling Options, or you can right-click on a single photo, or multiple photos, and select Auto Pan & Zoom..;)

Hi Ron, tnx for the welcome. Ok, I went back and re-read the OP's post. I don't know right off the top of my head how to do that but I'll hack at it and maybe figure it out. I learn something new everyday with this.

I do have a question to post but have been browsing the other threads thinking I might find the answer there.

Later, JK

I appreciate everyone's time on this, but he is correct, what im looking for is not a pan and zoom slide show. In the link I provided to the Corel tutorial, they show a very specific photo album template. Thats really what I am looking for.
