Re: Do AVCHD files with MTS ext. work in VSX3?
I havn't downloaded MF7 yet, because I prefer importing VSPs in my final layout. So I did render a few Mpegs with X3 just to test the results, but I use VSX2 to do the making of an ISO to check if everything's ok before burning to disc. Can MF7 do ISOs? I think someone said it cannot.

If you are making a standard definition DVD, then yes, MF7 can make both ISO files and DVD Folders (Video_TS). If you are making a Blu-Ray disc, it cannot make an ISO, but can make a Blu-Ray Folder (BDMV).

Re: Do AVCHD files with MTS ext. work in VSX3?
I am having this issue with my computer. I have installed the trial version today so I am fairly new. I tried to insert my wedding video files which are .mts files. I get a message with a dump file. The guy who did my videos is long gone so I can't upload my files with his sony software. I like the features in the Corel VS video editing software, but I can't go with Corel if I can't edit my wedding videos.
Any suggestions?

Re: Do AVCHD files with MTS ext. work in VSX3?
I've used VS since version 8 and have 4 Sony video cameras. I do not use the Sony software, for transferring the videos to my PC, I just copy the MTS files from the camera's hard drive in Windows Explorer to my PC's hard drive. Thought I never used ver X3 I never experience such and error, but I definitely know that Sony MTS files works well with Video Studio. I do not know how you obtained the video files and if the videographer used other methods/software to copy it from the Video camera, it could perhaps be the reason why you get the error. Hope you can find a way out because I would recommend VS for any projects, most of my work is indeed weddings. Regards

I just learned that quicktime can't read the .mts file if that brings new light to the situation.

You should open the MTS files in Windows Media Player. I think QuickTime is part of VS installations, thought it works in the background. I see that you use the trial and I'm sure it has to work, but can you perhaps download the latest Trial of VSX6, may be that will help.

Hi LightSear
I assume if you are using the trial version then you are using X6, is this correct.
QuickTime is no longer provided with the program, If you do not have QuickTime then install it from the QT web site. However QT is not required by MTS files.
How are you inserting your clips to the timeline
Right click the timeline and select Insert Video, does that work?

I've tried drag and dropping, and inserting the file. Both create the same problem saying "The program has encountered an unexpected error and has stopped functioning. Please contact Corel Technical Support and send the dump file for analysis. [dump file] address" Then the whole program shuts off.

Re: Do AVCHD files with MTS ext. work in VSX3?
I can convert the files into other formats with the batch processor function and the newly converted formats work in Corel, but I'm losing quality in the conversion. I've tried .wmv and .avi. Any suggestions on how to convert the files or what to convert the files to?

Re: Do AVCHD files with MTS ext. work in VSX3?
By this time I can think how frustrating this must be. Do you mean that you only get the error when you insert MTS files while other formats works ok? Did you perhaps installed any CODECS on your system? I hope one of the more technically orientated guys can help you with solving the issue soon.

Re: Do AVCHD files with MTS ext. work in VSX3?
Hi
Are you using Video Studio Batch Convert, strange that that option works yet you cannot insert the video clips to the timelines.
Have you tried importing to the library?
MTS files from my Panasonic use these settings:-
PAL (25 fps)
MPEG Transport-Stream Files
24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 25 fps
Upper Field First
(HDMV-PAL), 16:9
H.264 Video
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 16800 kbps)
Audio data rate: 256 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
Yes you are in the US and will use NTSC standards, 29.97fps, then the frame rate may be 60??
Try these settings in the batch converter.

Re: Do AVCHD files with MTS ext. work in VSX3?
Here's the file's information. My wife was able to download VS on her computer and she was able to insert the video file in VS on her computer, but her computer has a very slow processor. Perhaps I'm missing basic software required for reading the mts. Looking forward to any help.

Re: Do AVCHD files with MTS ext. work in VSX3?
Hi
Is your wife's pc running W7 or W8
The HD clips may need Smart Proxy files created to help with playback and editing.
Make sure Settings—Smart Proxy is enabled.
Proxy files are created after first adding clips to the timeline, otherwise right click a clip and select Create Smart Proxy. The process does take some time.
Your PC
If it’s a codec issue, Corel do recommend installing K-Lite, a codec pack, I have say we do not normally recommend installing packs.
Info from the knowledge base
Video files from a Digital Camera or Digital Camcorder will not import for editing in VideoStudio

Re: Do AVCHD files with MTS ext. work in VSX3?
I’m realizing that many people have asked me questions, and I only seem to answer the one that is most recent. Anyway, here are the other answers as well as the considerations:
I have downloaded the latest trial VSX6, and I am still using the trial version.
I’ve tried dragging and dropping, inserting files with the menu and inserting files by right-clicking. All options create the same symptom.
Just to be clear. All other formats work ok in VS.
My Windows Media Player can read my mts files, but it cannot read the m2t files that VS is converting. I haven’t installed any additional codecs on my machine. My machine is brand new so it may be missing codecs.
I tried converting my mts videos into the settings that Lata recommended and I have the same issue.
I tried to turn on Smart Proxy files in settings, and it has the same symptom.
Also, I don’t know if it matters, but I am saving all of my video files in my video folder and not the Corel VS folder that is auto created by the program.
My wife is running Windows 7.
An important consideration and the weirdiest thing about the whole ordeal is that if I convert my mts files into m2t files, I can use them to edit in VS, but my Windows Media Player can't read these files. When I tried to output the file as an AVCHD, the program shuts down with the normal error message, but I can go to the folder I output at, and the m2t file is sitting there! I can play it with my Windows Media Player and it works fine. So each time I output the file, my Corel will shutdown, but at least I get a finished product with relatively high HD quality. Really strange.
Logically, my next theory would be to install a codec that reads mts and m2t, but my Windows Media Player can read the mts files and the m2t output files so maybe that's not the issue. There are some bad reviews to K-Lite so I probably won't download that. Anybody else have any ideas?
